NEW REVIEW - A little less action...

After playing this guitar for four years now I can say that in beginners hind sight I would recommend any novice to spend a bit more money and purchase a different guitar; a Takamine EG360SC to be exact. Although I agree with other experienced players that say the DG100 has a warm and earthy tone, it lacks in early learning playability due to it's large amount of action at the fret board. Once I learned of what "action" was due to having difficulty with added hand fatigue due to the [extra unnecessary] force needed to press those strings down. After playing other guitars with better action did I realize that some extra work was needed to achieve better sensitivity while working the board. The truss rod in the neck needed slacking, and the saddle was ground down to get those strings closer the fret borad. And still I'm not very happy with the results. The craftsmanship compliments the sound, and the grover hardware is a nice added touch. Do not let a higher price tag intimidate you because you lack experience. When you find a good working guitar off the start, you will really enjoy learning the art, and when you develop your playing skills through learning, you will have a better playing experience with a nicer guitar that aligns with that experience.

Incredible Body with poor strings

This guitar is awesome right off the shelf! It has excellent tone and nice looking abalone trim This only problem with it is the mediocre strings it comes with. Just get some nice Elixirs or D'Addarios and you've got one nice guitar that sounds like a much more expensive Martin.

I Keep Going Back To It

I'm a beginner. My focus was simple - I wanted an acoustic that was comfortable and sounded good. I didn't have a lot of knowledge about guitars and how they're built, so feel and sound was all I had to go on. I knew Fender from electrics - didn't even know they made acoustics. Now I know more about guitars, and what to look for, and at the end of the day, I'm really proud of the choice I made when I knew nothing! This guitar sounds AMAZING!!! I've now played Taylors and Martins and everything else I can get my hands on. And while I understand the higher price for some of these other guitars, I keep going back to my Fender and I'm happy. If aesthetics matter to you, this is a BEAUTIFUL guitar. It just can't be beat for the price. It's solid, sturdy, gorgeous and it sounds amazing (the sound is what always, ultimately gets me! It's unbelievable. Rich, full, loud if you want it to be, no buzz.) I've since changed the strings but it really is good to play out of the box. I waited a good, long time before I changed the strings. Definitely consider this guitar - I don't think you'll be sorry.

Well made guitar!

I was looking for a guitar to get for my birthday. My price range was up to about 600 bucks. But when i played this guitar i fell in love with it. It has such a great warming sound to it. I was playing Martins in the store and to be honest, I couldnt tell the difference between this guitar and a Martin. Its a great guitar for under 500 bucks and really is worth every penny. Ive played it everywhere from small concerts to playing around the campfire and it sounds better and better everytime...It dosent come with the best strings, but just put some D'Addario's on it and your all set. Bottom line, if you want a guitar for under 500 bucks, this guitar is just for you..It sounds, looks, and feels great..

Great for Beginners

I am a beginning player, and while I wanted a good guitar I was on a very modest budget. I went to the Guitar Center here in MN and found not only a great price but a guitar that I cant put down. Its easy to play, sounds good, and makes me want to learn more and more. For any beginner out there, this is the guitar you want.
