Only 100 of these gorgeous 1955 Stratocaster Relic guitars have been produced by the Fender Custom Shop. The vibe and the specs are true to '55: the comfort contoured premium ash body, the nitrocellulose lacquer 2-tone sunburst finish, the '55-shape medium neck, the 9.5" radius maple fretboard with medium jumbo frets, and a bone nut. 3 custom-wound Fat '50s single-coils give this Limited Edition Strat voice, and the middle pickup is reverse wound for hum cancellation when it and another pickup are active. The finish has been given a Relic treatment offering the look of a seasoned veteran of countless hard rockin' gigs. In fact, this Strat looks a lot like the famous Brownie. Underneath its apparent wear is a supremely crafted, wonderful feeling, and killer sounding Custom Shop Master-built guitar. Includes a vintage tweed case, ashtray bridge cover, strap, cable, and a Fender Limited Edition certificate.

Comments about Fender Custom Shop 1955 Stratocaster Relic 2TSB LTD Electric Guitar:
The Fender Custom Shop stopped making these in January 2007, and I was fortunate enough to be able to pick one up a year later. I am surprised that any of these are still available since only 100 were made, but I suspect the reason is competition from Fender's own cheaper relic models (like the '56 strat relic). I played the cheaper relics right after trying out this one to see why the '55 was so much more expensive. There is a significant difference between the '55 and the less expensive Fender relics. The appearance and finish on the '55 is much more authentic, and the sound and action are incredible. I would not have not paid this much more simply because this is a limited (non-signature) edition, but I was willing to pay the difference because this is a far superior guitar. And much cheaper than the $75k it would cost to buy the real thing! This is not a guitar for the collector's closet, but one that you will find yourself wanting to play all the time. It has quickly become my favorite guitar.
