A modern take on a classic.

The Fender Classic Player Jazzmaster Special is an electric guitar that updates Fender's iconic Jazzmaster model with some thoroughly modern improvements: Hotter pickups, a redesigned Adjusto-Matic bridge with floating tremolo tailpiece, a 9.5" fingerboard radius and an improved neck pocket with increased back-angle for improved stability and sustain. The Classic Player Jazzmaster guitar's tremolo plate has been moved closer to the bridge to increase break angle and sustain. A screw-in tremolo arm increases stability and control when "twang-dipping".

Includes a gig bag.

  • Great Guitar but missing pieces.

As reviewed by CD on 7/7/2011

I am delighted with the Jazzmaster Classic Player. I like how easy it is to get to the upper neck, above the 12th fret, how light and fast the fretboard is, and how well set-up it came. I only had to spend a few minutes setting intonation. And the sound! Wow! The range of tone is amazing even though it's a two-pickup guitar without coil-splitting. The fit and finish of the instrument belies the disdain people have for MIMs. I've looked over the guitar many times and found only two insignificant flaws, practically microscopic. I'm surprised that Fender is not using the classic tuners on all its electric guitars rather than the more generic ones. I even like the gig bag! But the guitar came without any of the proper paperwork, like owner's manual, warranty, registration, and, most importantly, the tremolo rod, aka, the whammy bar. Even the inspection tag was wrong, marked "Stratocaster". I'm STILL waiting for this final piece of the guitar to arrive. And that's why this is a 4-Star review and not a 5-Star. I feel lucky that the instrument is such a nice one, and came undamaged, given that basic packing of it was so inept.

  • Sweet Motha

As reviewed by Garland Tabb on 3/25/2013

The last time I player a Jazzmaster was 20 odd years ago and wanted one ever since. This came and I found it to be a perfect fit for Church and Jazz, It's very versatile and the taller body style fits right under my arms very comfortable. The pickguard came pretty scratched up which took away from the new feel, if I have scratches on my pickguard, I want to be the one who put them there. Other than that, this baby is tone city with a lot of character. By the way GuitarCenter is sending a replacement pickguard with no fuss, their were very responsive.

  • Great Buy

As reviewed by guitarguyCQ on 4/4/2009

this is a great guitar for the price. I have no complaints whatsoever. I fell in love with this little beauty in august 2008. I bought it and have no regrets about doing so. The pickups were really hot at first, but have mellowed out quite a bit, so I get a tone i really like. You can't go wrong with this guitar, not to mention, it will be the envy of all your guitar playing friends! Definitely invest in this electric!
