A modern take on a classic.

The Fender Classic Player Jaguar Special is an electric guitar that updates Fender's iconic Jaguar guitar with some thoroughly modern improvements: hotter pickups, a redesigned Adjusto-Matic bridge with floating tremolo tailpiece, a 9-1/2" fingerboard radius and a redesigned neck pocket with increased back-angle for improved stability and sustain. The Jaguar guitar's tremolo plate has been moved closer to the bridge to increase break angle and sustain. The Fender Classic Player Jaguar Special guitar has a screw-in tremolo arm that increases stability and control when executing dive-bombs.

  • Great Guitar

As reviewed by Art Rice on 11/6/2011

Bought this is September'10. Unlike some other reviews, mine was set up perfect, flawless finish. This does stay in tune if you lock the trem. otherwise, it does need occasional adjusting. Great action. All in all, this is a great guitar. Is is as good as the '62? No, but for the price, you won't find any better.

  • Classic Player Jaguar is a true Classic

As reviewed by Mike Mongelli on 3/23/2013

Iv'e been playing about 50 years (too old to Rock and Roll too young to die) I bought my first Fender Strat in 1965 and when I was looking at Jaguars after reading reviews and specs I decided that the Classic Player was the best buy in a Jaguar. Iv'e owned lots of Fenders and when it arrived I was blown away by the fit and finish of this one. The sunburst was the best I've seen on any American Fender to date. This guitar has very unique tonal capabilities. The lead settings bite hard and Rhythm settings chunk along sweet and smooth. Fender Mexico has proven they can build a very solid instrument. To be honest, the early MIM Stratocasters and Teli's left alot to be desired. The Jaguar Classic Player MIM guitars display a quality of construction I never thought possible compared to anything at this price point. I considered an American built Jaguar, but buy comparison The Classic player shines. I wasn't driven by price, at my age I can well afford any guitar I want. The 9 1/2 neck radius is the same as my custom Strat and the pick ups are red hot. This is not a guitar for everyone. Short scale and Fenders modifications have vastly improved the sixties original Jaguars. To add a touch of nostalga Fender has left a little rattle in the bridge but compared to the sixties production this guitar more than not represents the great guitar Leo Fender was shooting for in his last true design. Plunk down your money and enjoy it. from surf to grunge to metal this guitar can hold it's own with any Fender guitar. It looks sexy, has that vintage Fender guitar classic sound and plays like a dream.

  • The definition of cool

As reviewed by Steve Cartwright on 12/24/2012

Playing "Brown Sugar" just doesn't feel right without a Tele. "Little Wing" on something other than a Strat? Forget about it! And if your song selection includes Pipeline, Walk Don't Run, Surf Rider, Perfidia, or anything by The Beach Boys, you gotta have one of these! Don't let MIM worry you... I cant discern any difference in quality compared to my 52 Reissue Tele or my American Deluxe Start. Pair this baby up with a vintage looking tube amp and a reverb pedal and you'll swear your in Southern California in the 60's!
