NEW REVIEW - Cool

I am extremely satisfied with my new Kingman 10. I enjoy playing almost every night and on a really good day I get to play twice. The California vibe is cool too.

Not a quality guitar

This guitar may look cool, but don't let the appearance fool you. It has a solid cedar wood top (soft wood that dings easily), and veneered (plywood) rosewood back and sides. The tuner box rattles, the wires inside rattle, and for a cedar/rosewood guitar, it should have a rich warm tone. However, it has a cheap matallic sound (no tone at all), and the strings buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz. I tried adjusting the action, but that did not seem to help much. It is just a cheap sounding guitar. You know, like a toy kids guitar. By the way, I know on-board tuners seem to be real cool, but why why would you want a square "hole" cut into your guitar anyway? I do NOT recommend this guitar, and suggest you buy something better. Also look over the finish - many factory blemishes too. Yes, I bought this guitar, but the next day I returned it.

Fender Kingman

I read the other review from the person saying this was a lousy guitar. Sounds like he just got a lemon. I bought a Fender Kingman last year and I am amazed at the quality and the tone. I too experienced the buzz that the other reviewer referred to when I first got the guitar, but I quickly realized that the buzzing was due to me and sloppy finger placement. This guitar is NOT forgiving in any way, but once you respect that and clean up your finger placement (which does make you a better guitarist), this baby sings! When I first got the guitar I thought it did not push out enough sound, but after a short time that changed dramatically. I don't know why, but it did. I had planned to buy a Martin because of the sound, but went with this guitar because I really liked the look and it produced the tones I was looking for. After getting used to this guitar I went back and played the Martin I had been considering and could not get the great tones I am now able to produce on this Fender Kingman. I really enjoy this guitar.
