  • Makes me love it a little more every day.

As reviewed by Janet Bowser on 12/15/2013

My intro into guitar playing was a Takemine Jasmine that I bought off of ebay. It was nice, but had an unpleasant buzz that drove me nuts. The luthier at GC worked on the frets and for a while it was ok, then the bridge starting lifting... My darling husband, for my birthday, told me to get myself down to GC and pick a guitar. Any guitar. I played everything in the store. Well, I stopped short of a Uke. I had fellows up on ladders getting down guitars. I had played this Jumbo about third or so and I kept coming back to it. The sound was mellow, it resonates so well and it just played like a dream. It was used, so I took it to the tech to have it checked out. He raised the action and it checked out fine. I got it for about a hundred and fifty bucks off of the new price. WIN! I play this every day and I find that it stays tuned nicely, unlike my Jasmine. It is solid and the sound is just amazing. I have not hooked it up to the amp yet, but I know that when I do it will be super, because I heard it amped at the store. I don't think you can go wrong with one of these. It will need a jumbo case, though.

  • Nevermind the Brand or Price, Astonishing Tone.

As reviewed by Brad Story on 7/13/2011

This guitar is outstanding. I wanted to buy a new acoustic guitar so I went in to Guitar Center in OKC. My last 2 acoustics were a Taylor 414ce and a Washburn jumbo j28scedl. I asked the sales person for the best deal in the store and he showed me a fender cd140 and I was blown after playing one chord. I bought the cd140 on the spot. I later learned about this jumbo ordered it. It is even more amazing than the cd140. When the guitar showed up I compared it to a Gibson j200 and the Taylor 615. I know some won't believe me but to me the Fender sounded better than the j200 and almost as good as the Taylor. The Taylor 615 had a little more punch and had more sparkly overtones. I aslo compared it to the Taylor 414 and the Fender had a more balanced lively tone. The Gibson had more bass than the Fender which seemed to overpower the overall tone. This fender is a buy of a lifetime. These new fenders are going to be legends. Fender has finaly turned the corner on their acoustics.
