  • Great action!

As reviewed by Gene Leal on 12/26/2012

The action on this guitar is incredible! I must have tried every acoustic in this price range at the store. I couldn't believe how beautiful it played the moment I picked it up. The sound is rich and full with great resonation and simply smokes. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with this purchase.

  • Great Beginner Guitar

As reviewed by Haley Brooks on 12/27/2013

This is my first guitar, but not the first in my family. My brother and father, both guitar enthusiasts, thought that this played incredibly for a guitar at this price. And I, who played about 20 guitars, looking for the one that I believed would suit me best, thought this was absolutely gorgeous. In love with this gorgeous guitar!

  • A great buy for beginner and even beyond

As reviewed by David Dunfee on 12/27/2013

This was the very first guitar I ever bought for myself, I had a $200 price range so I sat in the acoustic room and spent well over an hour nitpicking the various other selections in my price range, common issues were poor action, lack of tone depth, and even a seeming lack of craftsmanship, however, once I picked up the 140S, I couldn't put it down for a solid 20 minutes, and that's when I barely knew how to play a G-chord. It's well built, the joints are fairly seamless, no warped areas, buzzing, or rattling, and best of all for the beginner, the smooth satin low-pro neck and good action combine to provide a very forgivable, easy to play guitar. Also it has a much greater tone depth than guitars in a similar range, which I happen to like so much that after trying $600-800 Martins recently I felt unsatisfied because they couldn't match it. Basically, if you want a guitar that you're going to be learning on, or just want an affordable one with good tone to take with you around town, this is it, I've had mine for a little over 2 years and I can honestly say I still play it every day and still love it, just slapped on some brand new Elixir Nanoweb strings last week (which I also highly suggest, best strings I've ever used, better than Martin Lifespans, and far better than what it comes with originally) and it sounds just as good if not better than the day I brought it home. For reference, I generally keep mine in Drop-D tuning, pick 1-4 and usually only go to 5-6 for chord strumming, sort of a country style but more free flowing
