  • Nice beginner's guitar but also good for experienced

As reviewed by JACK LEFKOWITZ on 4/24/2014

I got the two-tone burst at a truly bargain price of $100. It's made in Indonesia but don't let that deter you. There are some really nice pieces coming from that part of the world these days. The bad is that the frets are finished roughly and might cause discomfort for young fingers as the edges are quite sharp. These can be filed down, of course, but not by inexperienced hands. The tuners are simply for crap. They do the job but with varied amounts of pressure and don't give the strings a lot of stability. The plus side is that there is precious little buzzing up and down the fretboard. The pickups are very strong and varied... quite unusual in this price range. The tremolo works but overuse can play havoc with tuning. The knobs feel firm and have a bit of a quality feel to them. The guitar itself is flat out beautiful for the price. Light in weight and comfortable to hold, it doesn't beg to be put back in a gig bag every time you pick it up. If you are an experienced player, you'll like this... an inexpensive knock-about genuine Squire strat, finished well with just a few niggling caveats. If you are inexperienced, it's a nice guitar with which to get started. $100 well spent.

  • No instruction manual for assembly

As reviewed by Marshall Woodford on 12/29/2013

I bought this guitar after recommendations of a friend and the phone sales rep. I am a jazz saxophone player and I bought this guitar for my son for Christmas. When I opened the box there are some parts for the guitar and there is no manual on how to assemble it. I went to Fender's website to locate a online manual and there is none. I guess I have to take this to a music store to have it assembled.
