  This guitar is a great intermediate guitar i have played around 10 gigs with it an have had only minor problems with it. The 2 and 4 positions on the pick up selector give a cleaner sound but are less output so they are quieter and this can be a problem when playing live and you want a clean tone. I purchased the candy apple red version of this guitar but swapped out the white pickguard for a black one because the white one seems out of place with the black knobs and black tremolo arm tip. I have had this guitar for almost half a year now and it is my primary instrument. I havent had any problems with it staying in tune or with the tremolo arm and I am glad i made this purchase.

• GREAT COMPLIMENT TO AN AMERICAN

  I bought the blacktop strat in black along with a rosewood fretboard, to compliment my 1996 American standard strat (which I admire) and get more tonal versatility. This guitar has done that and 10X more. The overall sound of the humbuckers are very warm in the humbucking positions, and with the s1 switching can jump right into a pretty good single coil sound. Although a great guitar, I have made some minor changes to it. Other than these changes, this guitar is great and can be a very fun project to upgrade.

• New Generation of Perfection

  I traded in my Ibanez RG 5EX1, I had bought it 2 weeks prior so i got the full refund back. I had $400 credit and the Blacktop Strat was $450, but they traded me no extra charge (sweet). Anyhow, this car makes me happy every time I look at it. I am very happy I traded my 5EX1, the Floyd Rose was too much to deal with tuning wise, thought it would stay in tune for a while longer, it didn't make up for the amount of time and effort you have to put into retuning it. The split buckers are key, on other guitars they have proven to be unfavorable to me personally as I think is the general consensus, but this guitar pulls it off flawlessly, its a whole new playing field. My neighbor asked me how many different guitars I own, cuz I play many different styles of music n songs and the guitar sounds unique to each songs, she couldnt believe all those different sounds could come out of a single guitar, and my amp was on clean and no additional effects besides the 5 switch and volume and tone knobs were used. Very impressive, I became a much more proud owner at that moment. You cant beat this especially for the price. I'm not a fender fan boy either, my previous guitars were (in order) 1) B.C. Rich Warlock (Mick Thompson) 2)Ibanez RG 120 3)Epiphone Studio Electric Guitar 4)Ibanez 5EX1 (briefly) 5) and now my beautiful Blacktop Strat. So coming from someone who used to try and avoid Fenders in general, this guitar dramatically changed my opinion of them.
