Made for chicken pickin' and slick slidin'.

The Fender James Burton Telecaster pays homage to the famed Nashville guitarist whose studio contributions figure in some of the biggest records of all time. The basswood body is fitted with three special pickups designed to James Burton's specifications and its unique five-way Strat-o-Tele switching plus the S-1 switch gives you seven pickup configurations. The U-shaped '60s maple neck has a maple fingerboard, gold-plated deluxe tuners with pearl or black chrome buttons, and vintage-style frets. The string-thru-body, hardtail bridge delivers lots of resonant sustain. Includes case.

5-Position Strat-o-Tele switching with S-1:
Position 1. Bridge Pickup
Position 2. Bridge and Middle Pickup in parallel (series w/ S-1 down)
Position 3. Bridge and Neck Pickup in parallel
Position 4. Middle and Neck Pickup in parallel (series w/ S-1 down)
Position 5. Neck Pickup

  • This guitar rocks...

As reviewed by OttoMatick on 7/5/2010

I got the red flame version about 3 years ago. Looks excellent on stage. Retail price has increased annually since orig purchase(a guitar that appreciates). Superfast satin finish 9.5 maple neck bolted to a urethane basswood body hosting gold hardware, special burton blade pickups and 7 way switch electronics for series wiring tone option in position 2 & 4. Fit & finish excellent. Light, easy on shoulders/back. I love that there is no pick guard so the body graffics shows. Pearl button tuners add good looks few other guitars have. Get one, learn to play all the lead parts in Ricky Nelson songs like Travling Man and Hello Mary Lou. Excellent single coil solid body guitar. I could see this being my only guitar if I had to pare it down to just keep one...

  • BEST Guitar PERIOD!

As reviewed by tiberius on 11/25/2014

I'm not going to ramble on, I'll just keep it SIMPLE. I have been chasing and experimenting different sounds, tried many different pups, amps and guitars for several years now, every guitar I ever owned and tried I always found something that was missing no matter what the price was. After playing this JBurton Tele, I finally found absolute PERFECTION. Sound, playability, weight, looks, overall feel of the instrument, etc...I can honestly say "This is The One". The Only regret I have is that I didn't know this guitar existed much earlier, if I had to pick and own just One guitar, This is THE ONE. Absolute perfection in every way, a true masterpiece, God Bless Fender and Mr. James Burton. You Absolutely MUST try this guitar, and if you find anything wrong with it, You Seriously need to get your head, eyes, and ears Examined.

  • Awesome Guitar!

As reviewed by Alan Meeuwsen on 1/26/2012

I ordered this guitar from the Chicago store on Monday and it arrived Wednesday at my door. Right out of the box it was set up and ready to play, all I had to do was tune it. It just so happened that at the time it arrived a friend of mine who is an awesome guitar player was over and we were jamming. We are both experienced musicians who have played in various bands most of our lives but are both retired and just play for our own enjoyment mostly so we know a good guitar when we see one. We both took turns putting it through it's paces and were very pleased with it's performance. The switching options for the three James Burton style pickups really allows you to get whatever type of sound you want for country or rock music. Very nice fast neck/fingerboard and with the hardtail bridge it stays in tune very well. I believe it is destined to be one of my favirite guitars that I have owned and I've had plenty including Les Paul, Taylor T5 and many others. Oh yeah, did I mention it is Gorgeous!!!
