The Fender American Vintage '62 Strat comes with the original tremolo with ashtray cover and authentic 3-way switching, but includes the parts to upgrade to 5-way.

  • One Sweet Strat

As reviewed by Ed Man on 9/1/2006

I just recently purchased this axe from GC and let me tell, this is one sweet strat. I also own an American Deluxe and 2 PRS custom 22's. I was never a real vintage guy, but this guitar intrigued me from the first time I saw one in the store. I love the feeling of history with this guitar. The deluxe is also a great playing guitar with awesome tones but nothing beats this thing for pure unadulterated Strat tone. I play through a Mesa Lone Star special and this thing sings and screams. I was somewhat shocked given many of the reviews talk about weak pickups. To me they are what a Strat sounds like... perfect. Guitars are very subjective things and I believe this may be one of the best guitars out there. I still love my PRS's for crunch time but for just pure playing pleasure this guitar is the king. Get one, you won't be sorry!!

  • Fender 62' Reissue Stratocaster

As reviewed by MusicDude12 on 10/3/2006

This is a great guitar. I got the olympic white, and it came in a very high quiality brown hardshell case. I opened it to find this beautiful guitar nesled in soft orange plush. It had the ashtray bridge cover, the tremolo bar, the finish wash, the polish cloth, a vintage strap, a vintage cable, the 5-way switch upgrade, and all the manuals in the compartment. As soon as i picked this guitar up out of its case i sensed it was special. The trem bar was a tight fit to get it at first but after a while it sat nicly. The guitar was set up great out of the box and played like a dream. I plugged into my fender combo. The neck fit nicly in my hand, very comfortable, and easy to play. I turned on the clean channel, and the strat dished out warm bassy tones on its UP pickup postion. Then, the DOWN pickup postion can give you that clean funk tone and country. Even with just a 3-way pickup selector this guitar can cover a variety of areas. On the distortion channel, I again started with the UP pickup position. It was insane, the warm overdrive rolled out of the strat. In the DOWN pickup postion, there was that tone filled distortion. With the gain on 10 I got those metal tones. THis guitar is perfect for many music styles. Great for everything. Great feel, killer sound, and looks to dye for. Great job fender.

  • you`ll never go wrong...

As reviewed by sonny wolf on 8/10/2007

I`ve aquired a quite a few of these models over the years and never had a bad one. Each one did have it`s own personality but the quality was always consistent. The pickups are great for vintage sounds of course. They have enough output but stay within vintage territory. The midrange is a little more prominent than some other strat pickups. The weight of the bodies is consistent, not too heavy and the workmanship is accurate to general vintage specs. The playabilty is great(once you get used to the small frets, hey if Jimi used them then...).The tuning is very stable and overall this is a very charismatic and credible Strat. This and the classic player 60`s model are my two favourites. You`ll never go wrong owning this model if want the classic strat sound.
