Product Information

Tradition redesigned.

• New bridge with improved bent-steel saddles for increased resonance and sustain

• New tinted neck treatment for a richer look

• Thinner finish undercoat lets the body breathe and improves resonance

• New Fender-exclusive SKB molded case

• Beautiful new finish options

The Fender American Stratocaster Electric Guitar is a Fender icon. Juicy upgrades include a richer, deeper neck tint for a more elegant and expensive appearance; glossed neck front for improved looks with satin back for smooth playability; and bent steel Fender saddles with classic look and great tone. String spacing is narrowed for modern playability, saddle height screws are re-sized to reduce rough feel, and string slot on saddle elongated to reduce string friction or breakage. The Copper Infused Cast Strat® Bridge Block (steel with copper- 100% metal) provides increased mass and improved tone. This Strat features the original headstock shape but has staggered machine heads losing one string tree and improving string angle over the nut. Custom staggered pickup magnets improve string-to-string balance and give the G-string better tone. Cosmetics include parchment/black/parchment pickguard and parchment pickup covers, knobs, and tips.

The return of the American Standard Series Strat continues Fender's tradition of commitment to the people who play Fender instruments out there in the real world. Today's American Standard Stratocaster guitars are worthy heirs of their revered ancestors--mindful of player needs and taking full advantage of modern advances, yet remaining completely true to the elements and spirit that made these instruments legendary in the first place. Improvements include redesigned bridges, neck and body finishes, and a Fender-exclusive high-tech molded case. Still there are the beloved hand-rolled fingerboard edges, alnico V pickups and staggered tuning machines for tone and stability guaranteed to last a lifetime (with its limited lifetime warranty)! So make history with the redesigned American Standard!

Redesigned American Standard Strat® Bridge

Gives sought-after tone with modern smooth trem travel. Block retains the mass and tone of a vintage bridge block, but is chamfered for access to deeper dives. Saddles have the classic look and tone, but with modern improvements (spacing, slot elongation, height screw length).

Bridge Component Specifics

'American Standard' saddles- The original vintage-style Fender bent steel adjustable saddle is one of the components that give vintage Fenders their tonal 'mojo'. Fender conducted tone comparison tests, and fell in love with them all over again. They have a wider tonal range and more character many other saddles. Then Fender improved them; narrowing the spacing to afford more room (and complement the bigger frets and rolled edges), and also elongated the string slot to reduce friction and string breakage, while improving the string break angle over the primary contact point.

'Tone-fusion' block- A typical cast bridge block is impregnated with a resin to eliminate 'voids' in the material and to bond it together… this steel block is infused with copper, which makes the block 100% homogeneous metal. The result is a more musical, higher mass bridge that has more of that machined-block sound. Fender was also able to keep the same American Series profile for increased tremolo travel.

NEW REVIEW - Fender American Stratocaster

Simply put: It's a Stratocaster. What else is there to say? Great American quality in an icon that plays as easily as possible with typical Stratocaster sound. Very pleased with the tonal variations provided with the 3 single coil pick up arrangement. Love the Sienna Sunburst - it stands out from the other color choices and has nice depth with beautiful woodgrain background. The maple neck allows bends with "buttery" smoothness. Wanted the American version to help retain it's value down the road and be part of the Strat "Heritage".

NEW REVIEW - U.S.A. Strat

I bought a brand new American Standard Strat from Guitar Center in Towson, MD last week. I'm primarily a Gibson player, and this is the first Strat I've bought in ten years. I have to say I'm very impressed so far. This thing is very easy to play. Mine has the maple fretboard, and my hand glides up and down the neck with ease. The pickups are a little hotter than previous models, but you won't have any trouble finding that signature Strat sound. My only complaint is with the nut. When I'm tuning, it tends to ping, and sometimes goes out of tune immediately. I don't understand why high end manufacturers such as Fender and Gibson can't put a decent nut on their guitars. Overall, I think this is a very well made guitar; and I would definitely recommend it. It will do the job for anything from rock, to blues to country.

Super great guitar

I bought this yesterday, plugged it nt and was blown away This guitar's tone is better than the Clapton sig I own. The picture does not do this axe justice.. 1st because they tinted the neck .. it looks really sweet.. great touch.. but yah, looks are not the most important thing here .. the new vintage saddles deliver a richer tone .. yes, i'm not a big fan of a floating trem, but it's an improvement over the previous american strat saddles, BELIEVE ME.. listen for yourself.. anyway- maybe traditional strat fans will not initially give this new axe a chance, and some part of me didn't want this axe to be any better, but after playing it myself and hearing the richer tones delivered out of this new axe, i am recomending this new Strat to anyone who is lucky enough to get their hands on one .. Good luck to all!

Timeless

THE strat, the American Standard has been the "center of gravity" of fender. Now they've gone and made more final finishes to the #1 guitar, further raising the standard. The new strats have a very nice feel to them, subtle yet noticeable and desirable. An absolute buy!

Awesome Guitar

I picked up this guitar after months of exhausting research. I went through every make on earth, and nothing touches the sound of the strat. The finish on this guitar is beautiful. The body is light weight and the frets are awesome. Actually the frets are another reason why I made the choice - it is very easy to make your barre chords on this neck. The frets are hand worn on the sides so it feels like it is already broken in. I compared it to other Strats and this one just felt like home. The Alnico V pickups give you that popping sound that strats are famous for, but they are a little noisy. The new bridge is fantastic. Sustain is incredible, and it stays in tune pretty well with the stock tuners. As with any Strat you buy if you don't like something on it you can change it.
