Incredible tonal versatility on a distinctly American axe.

The Fender American Standard Series Stratocaster HSS is a perfect electric guitar for players who like big, fat humbucker tone. Redesigned with improvements that include the modern C-shaped maple neck with glossed neck front and satin polyurethane finish on back for smooth playability. Bent steel Fender saddles with classic look and great tone. String spacing narrowed for modern playability, saddle height screws re-sized to reduce rough feel, and string slot on saddle elongated to reduce string friction or breakage. Custom staggered tuning machines eliminate the need for one of the string trees. Staggered pole pieces in the pickups provide balanced output across all strings, and specifically improves the G-string's tone. Two-point trem, rosewood or maple fretboard, and genuine Fender American craftsmanship add up to a Fat Strat style guitar that is a dream come true.

The return of the American Standard Series Strat continues Fender's tradition of commitment to the people who play Fender instruments out there in the real world. Today's American Standard Stratocaster guitars are worthy heirs of their revered ancestors--mindful of player needs and taking full advantage of modern advances, yet remaining completely true to the elements and spirit that made these instruments legendary in the first place. Improvements include redesigned bridges, neck and body finishes, and a Fender-exclusive high-tech molded case. Still there are the beloved hand-rolled fingerboard edges, alnico V pickups and staggered tuning machines for tone and stability guaranteed to last a lifetime (with its limited lifetime warranty)! So make history with the redesigned American Standard!

Redesigned American Standard Strat® Bridge

Gives sought-after tone with modern smooth trem travel. Block retains the mass and tone of a vintage bridge block, but is chamfered for access to deeper dives. Saddles have the classic look and tone, but with modern improvements (spacing, slot elongation, height screw length).

Bridge Component Specifics

'American Standard' saddles- The original vintage-style Fender bent steel adjustable saddle is one of the components that give vintage Fenders their tonal 'mojo'. Fender conducted tone comparison tests, and fell in love with them all over again. They have a wider tonal range and more character many other saddles. Then Fender improved them; narrowing the spacing to afford more room (and complement the bigger frets and rolled edges), and also elongated the string slot to reduce friction and string breakage, while improving the string break angle over the primary contact point.

'Tone-fusion' block- A typical cast bridge block is impregnated with a resin to eliminate 'voids' in the material and to bond it together… this steel block is infused with copper, which makes the block 100% homogeneous metal. The result is a more musical, higher mass bridge that has more of that machined-block sound. Fender was also able to keep the same American Series profile for increased tremolo travel.

  • MY DREAM GUITAR

As reviewed by Jim Sollmi on 1/19/2012

Ever since I saw this guitar when I was a kid I wanted one and now I finally bought it. I was a little intimidated by all the possible adjustments that could be made to make it feel the way I wanted it. I was going to to bring it in to local GC to have them do a set up, but, before I knew it I was adjusting the truss rod (slightly), the action, the pick up height and the intonation. I checked all the tolerances that are written in the book that comes in the case and and I went on you-tube to get some pointers. The action is smooth as silk and effortless. This guitar makes it easier for me to play and I find myself practing much longer because it is so easy to play. The guitar is also beautifully finished and sounds great!

  • Amazing and Versatile Guitar

As reviewed by Hiredgoon on 8/24/2011

I've been playing guitar for a few years as a hobby and decided to upgrade my starter equipment. As a hobbyist, I was looking for something versatile that had a clean sound, but was still able to get that rich rock sound. The Fender Stratocasters are known for this and this guitar absolutely delivers. Personally the American versions feel better and more solid to me. The Deluxe is cool, but I actually liked the sound of the American Standard better, not to mention the price tag difference. The sound is great and is very easy to play. The HSS was big for me because in addition to the clean sounds I like, I very much enjoy rock and effects. The Humbucker really adds that intensity with a fuller rock sound. Ecstatic with my purchase.

  • My offical "go to" instrument

As reviewed by Sean on 7/27/2011

I just got this guitar for my 21st birthday and i have to say without a doubt this guitar is worth every single penny. for many years ive always wanted a traditional guitar meaning a strat, tele, les paul or an SG. I plugged the american standard HSS in, turned it up and i simply was uncontrollable, and it truly plays like a dream, the balance between the neck and body is perfect, your not strapping on the entire tree like some guitars out on the market, and this guitar is VERY easy to "speak to" anything you tell it, it will deliver the message without fighting back. and i have to mention it stays in tune very well! a combination of the tonal range and everything about this guitar has made it my main go to guitar to use in the studio and on the stage. it will be the most played out of every guitar in my collection. period.
