  • Believe the hype

As reviewed by Carl R on 1/14/2011

I'm sitting here playing this guitar that i purchased back in August 2010 and i can say that I love this guitar, to the point that I had to put her down and write a review. If you are looking for a great sounding guitar, that plays as well as it looks then you are in for a treat. This thing is classic American Fender, solid quality construction, super comfortable, and the neck seems to almost play itself couple that with Texas special pups and jumbo frets and your ears will be in heaven. I'd suggest as with any guitar that you play a few of these before deciding. I played them in GC (as well as the Am. std.) with the same rig I have at home. All of the guitars were great sounding but anyone who has spent any reasonable amount of time in GC knows no two guitars sound the same. For the money it cannot be beaten, you want rock it does it, you want jazz no problem, Blues it seems Fender built this guitar expressly for Blues players which is the style I play most. As a huge SRV fan I suggest than anyone who is influenced by that master Bluesman to take a real good look at this guitar. If I had to complain about one thing is that it comes in only two color options, don't get me wrong the red and sunburst are both gorgeous but I cannot see why they would limit this amazing instrument to just two choices. I've had this beauty 3 and a half months and she's already my number one. The only mods I've made to her are heavier strings (Ernie ball not even slinky tuned down Eflat) two more trem springs an "F" stamped neck plate and a black pickguard. Sure the highway one crowd are fanatics (the neck is a highway one neck btw) and some bag on this guitar, don't be swayed the highway one is a great axe but this baby is the real deal play a few and you'll agree. Believe the hype. Awesome job Fender!

  • AT LAST

As reviewed by David on 2/9/2011

I have been picking all kinds of guitars for years. I Have not found the one that just felt or sounded "right". At last this is the one. I love blues and crunchy metal. I tryed all the top name guitars under a grand$$$. All played great but when I picked up the this baby it was like butter in my hands. This guitar with the Texas pick-ups are awesome. With enough over-drive I can get a good blues/metal type of sound. Just a little weak in the middle for chops. Enough said about metal. This is a blues man's dream. It is so easy to play the fingers glide across the jumbo fret board. I have blisters on the fingers from playing so much.
