Why buy anything else?
First off I would like to say that I've been actively playing guitar for over 25 years, so you know I have lots and lots of experience with guitars and anything having to do with guitars. I started my career with high end Ibanez guitars and over the years have owned Gibson's (Custom, Classic and Standard models) many deluxe US strats and my latest a PRS Custom 22 Brazilian. I've since sold the PRS simply because I was affraid to play it and get a mark on it. I purchased this Fender American Special Strat three months ago and all I can say is "Why buy anything else?" Why bother? I'll save you lots of time right now. This guitar does it all. Fender tone that is recognizable and S1 switching for more bluesy tones. The mahogany body is both sonically and visually beautiful. Fender has been putting out amazing guitars for the past four to five years. I highly recommend this guitar to any serious musician. Also Guitar Center Buffalo rocks big time.

Just amazingly good!
I walked into our GC expecting to look over some Custom Shop Strats. I walked out with a Mahogany HSS American Special. On the way home I was wondering, "Could it really be this good?" My impression of this guitar has gotten better every time I play it.
I'm not giving it a 5 in Quality and Features because I imagine somebody could conceivably make a guitar for triple the price that is built a little better or has some more bells and whistles, but you'd have to pay several thousand more, and then it'd be too expensive to actually use anyway!
The guitar acoustically just sounds wonderful; there is a ringing sustain on the upper strings that is really unlike anything I've played before. It sings! The intonation is delicious, and the neck is accurate from the first fret all the way up.
Yes, they really ARE this good, and for not a ton of cash. either.
For once I have stumbled on something akin to the '80's "Rivera Super Champ" -before it became a rare collector?s item- that for a short while is available, and you just know you have a guitar that people will someday refer to as, "One of THOSE strats". I would be not at all surprised if the value of these doubles someday. They are a steal at this price.

HOLY $HIT!!!
This guitar is the best fender you could probably own. I play hardcore metal to jazz, and this guitar keeps up with both. This has taken my guitar playing to a whole new level, onstage and off. So if your looking to buy a new guitar or cant decide to get one or this, DEFINETLEY go with this. ^^

You will enjoy this guitar!
I own a 1972 strat and two other electrics with humbuckers. I was looking for a guitar that had both. This guitar has more tone flexability than any you'll find. Basically a top-of-the-line American Deluxe HSS fully loaded but w/o the locking trem. The single coil pick-ups do have a slight hum, but nothing compared to my '72. The Humbucker has a thicker brighter tone than my Ibanez AH10. The fit & finish is 1st rate. An outstanding value. A limited edition worth making more of..I'm glad I have one.

A Killer Mahogany Strat!
This is a Fender with a color scheme a diehard Gibson fan can respect. I was looking for a single coil guitar to add to my collection and this more than fits the bill. You get amazing clean tones with the S-1 switching system, and the neck is comfy and playable. This guitar fits very well against your body, and it balances naturally. I played one for over two hours at my local Guitar Center so now I'm saving my dollars up to buy one!

AMAZING Fender
I bought this guitar 2 days ago and I just can't stop playing. You can get so many differant tones with the S-1 switching; its great. I play a wide variety of music; indie, alternative, rock, punk rock, classic rock, and this guitar can keep up with it all. The fretboard is really nice and the finish is beautiful. I HIGHLY recommend it!

Fender limited ed. American Special
Too bad they don't have a picture for this guitar - it is GORGEOUS. Why don't they have a picture? Fender made a limited run of these just for Guitar Center, so if you buy it, you won't see your buddy down the street with the same guitar, and you may never see another one!
This guitar sounds and performs as good as it looks, too. The S1 switching, roller nut, texmex pups, etc, mean great tones, natural vibrato and incredible sustain. Priced below a Fender MIUSA Deluxe Strat, but with comparable goodies, so you can't go wrong buying this one.

I just might be converted
A friend of mine (who is a big Strat fan) referred to this guitar as a Fender SG.
Call it want you want, this thing is outstanding.
I was looking for a Strat at the Greensboro, NC Guitar Center. I prefer Gibson guitars. But if you are a guitar guy, you need a Strat. The sales guy pulled one of these down from the wall and it was love as soon as I played it.
Quality is excellent. I have read some saying that the tone isn't great. Mine is awesome.
The guy who sets up my guitars also sets up guitars for people you would have heard of. He asked if the pick-ups were aftermarket as they were superior to those on other Strats he has worked on.
The bridge humbucker growls without being overly bright. Sustain is killer for a tremolo equipped guitar.
I can't recommend a guitar more highly than this.

A truly beautiful instrument
I love this guitar!
The neck feels amazing...creamy is the best word I can find to describe how it feels. The mahogany body gives this guitar a richer tone than its alder counterparts and the deep red semi-transparent finish looks gorgeous. There is a huge tonal range available from the two single coils and splittable humbucker, everything from clean bell tones which would open the pearly gates, to the devil's own screaming lead. Other deluxe features such as the frictionless nut, tremolo, strap-locks and a fantastic case add even more value to this purchase.
The guys at Guitar Center North Sherwood really looked after me (onya Joe!) and I would recommend this guitar to all. I still can’t believe I got such a beautiful guitar for this price.

A Good Guitar for Your Money
This is definitely a guitar to consider because you can play a wide variety of music with it. The humbucker on the tail is great for those who want to play with high gain and is a very solid, well built guitar.
