Fat Strat is where its at!
The American deluxe Strat has a totally fat tone with a less than Les Paul weight.
This axe really stands out amongst the other guitars in the thousand dollar price range because of its tonal diversity. I plugged straight into my Mesa Boogie Dual Recto, and I can?t say I?ve ever heard a more beautiful noise. You can get nearly any sound out of this thing, from Telecaster twang, to Les Paul Chunk. The S-1 switching system provides just about every tone a working musician might need.
The Bridge position humbucker really lays the crunch on thick in the overdrive channels of my Dual Rectifier. The neck pickup gives a great clean sound for rhythm playing, and can provide a nice SRV grit for blues playing with the s-1 switch down. For a great mellow sound, flip to the middle pickup (I personally favor this sound in my recordings).
Another great feature is the LSR nut, which gives a near Floyd Rose level of tuning stability. No other guitar I?ve seen has a similar feature. The LSR nut works with the locking tuners to provide a confidence inspiring setup. With these two pieces of hardware, I only have to tune up once in a gig. String changes are a breeze as well because the locking tuners eliminate the need for wrapping the string. You just have to pull the string tight, and lock it down.
It's comfortable live, and provides a phenomenal range of tones in the studio (mainly because of the S-1 switching). Overall, one of the best and most practical instruments in its price range!

A guitars guitar
Ive been playing guitar for over 40 years and I've bought a lot of guitars in that time and I own several Strats but this Guitar has just about all of them beat hands down. This is one TONE monster. It can do just about anything from crisp and clean to gritty and dirty. The fit and finish and hardware are all excellant also. This is one awesome axe. Fender out did themselves on this one especially for the money.

i got this guitar about 2 years ago and let me tell you its amazing! Everything about is great from the woodwork at the headstock right down to the awsome floating bridge. This is a must have for fender fans out there like me. With the humbucker you can play dirty alternative rock right to warm clean sounding blues which I love. Get this GUITAR!

The Strat Wins
This guitar has been my one prized possession for half a year now. It has been there for me live and recording and has never let me down and I never get over the tobacco finish. After putting it against PRS' and Les Pauls well over the price it amazed me with its great feel on the neck. The extra humbucker gives it the punch to knock out any other guitar out there.

What more could you want?
I have been around for a while and I think I have played almost every guitar that is commercially available in the U.S. This guitar has great sound, style, neck, pick-ups, electronics, the works. And it stays in tune when you use the whammy bar! As "all around" an instrument as you could possibly need or want. Impecable craftsmanship for a mass produced piece, and fairly well priced (remember the old adage " you get what you pay for!) If you can't be happy with this guitar you need to have one custom built for you!

wow. good job fender
this guitar is awesome, tones are absolutely amazing. even makes my little frontman 15g amp sound awesome. i absolutely LOVE the fretboard its so smooth and easy to move on. the humbucker pickup sounds reallllly good especially when you throw on the distortion the humbucker kills the sound!! i love the S1 switching feature it gives the guitar a great fat tone reminiscent of gibson, u know that heavier ballsier sound that only comes from having more dense wood...or an S1 switch. the only NEGATIVE i can say about the guitar is that there is some fret buzz on the low e and the a string and if you pluck it hard enough it will show up on the amp but for the most part its not a problem. bottom line-- great guitar: stays in tune extraordinarily well, awesome noisless and humbucker pickups, great feel on the fret board, and because its an american fender it'll last forever (knock on wood) negatives: some fret buzz, medium/jumbo frets make it a little difficult to do solos and stuff, but whatever it doesn't bother me

Simply great sounding guitar
A week ago I bought the Deluxe HSS Strat and it is well worth the money. It sounds great beyond words and the pickups and feel of it is amazing. The only thing that bothers me is the lock in tuning pegs. My high e string popped a few times at first until I could finally get it on there and tuned. Besides that it is a great buy and sweet guitar.

Worth Every Penny
I never thought I'd call a $1,200 guitar a great value, but that's exactly what this guitar is. It's worth every penny. Playing it is all but effortless. The fit and finish are excellent. I have only two minor complaints. The trem is a little over-sensitive when your palm is resting on it (I'm going to try to fix this by adding springs), and I just don't care for the SCN pickups. The humbucker is great. I replaces the SCN's with Kinmans.

Best General Purpose Guitar I've Ever Played
I own a bunch of guitars including a Les Paul Standard and a Les Paul Special. If all my guitars burst into ashes, this would be the first guitar I'd replace.
It seems to me that most other guitars have one trademark sound that people go for. This guitar has pretty much every style of music covered. Rock, metal, blues, country, jazz, you name it. And it's not that it CAN play them, it's that it plays them and sounds really good.
Strats in general have the best clean sound you will find in a mass-produced electric guitar. Beats a Les Paul hands-down in my opinion.
There are so many good things about this guitar. It's light. It's the most comfortable neck I've played on. Stays in tune like a charm. Is easy to restring with the locking tuners. It's just a fantastic instrument.
I love this guitar and would recommend it to anyone who's looking for an amazing all-around guitar. I can't say enough good things about it.

Star of the Strats
I was in a quandry about whether to buy this Strat or a Les Paul, and am very happy I made this choice. First of all there is the price, without sacrificing quality. The locking nut keeps it in tune in a way you can never achieve on the angled Les Paul neck. The S-1 pick up gives you that full humbucker feel when you need dark and heavy, and the neck has the great playability you get with a strat. I have seven guitars [sigh...including a high-end Gibson ES-137 Custom] and this is by far the favorite right now.
