  • Great flats!

As reviewed by Richard on 6/2/2010

If you're looking for some flats and you don't want to dig deep into your pockets, buy these now! I've used DR's and Elixer's and honestly, you really can't tell the difference... I play a Benevente 4 string and we tune down a full step (i.e. "E" to "D"). So I use these Fender Flats 55 to 105 and they always stay in tune. You just can't go wrong with these!

  • Good String for a Good Price

As reviewed by Tim on 6/20/2011

When my RotoSound Jazz Bass Strings died out I needed some cheap flats and quick. The day a had them come to my house and installed to my bass I was amazed how much brightness came out of this flatwound string. Not only did I get my High end and clanky sound but I got a deep Low End and warm mids that help me stand out in my Metal band. The apperance of the green silks clash with my bass a little but would look great om other basses. A little too tense and not as bright as my previous set of strings but still these prove why Fender is the Godfather of the Bass world and maybe the most reliable music company ever.

  • The right strings for my fretless Fender Bass.

As reviewed by Big Al on 6/10/2011

After a lifetime of playing with round-wounds (Fenders are nice) I decided to try these Fender 9050M flatwounds on my fretless Fender Bass. Thinking that since I am going for a sound like a Double Bass and Double Basses uses flatwounds, this might works. I was right and these strings bring the sound and touch I was looking for on the fretless. I get much more even sound across the strings, as the gauge of this set is more even to me. The G string benefits most as it is a similar feel as the others. On the round-wounds, the G was thin and I had to hit it different. I like the Medium (heavier) gauge, the tone is quite deep and even. This gauge wants to be hit harder, like a Double Bass, which I like. I get a real deep "B-waah" on the lowest notes, and with a little EQ can get the percussiveness of the strings. So thats it. These are my fretless strings. Fagedaboudit. Oh - Love the deep green top silks!
