      Fender '70s Jazz Bass (519790)

The classic Fender funkster is back!

The Fender '70s Jazz Bass captures the essence of the decade with striking cosmetics and a bright, full sound. The original '70s Jazz Bass had a repositioned bridge pickup—moved closer to the bridge—and the flashier look of big block inlays, neck binding, and bullet truss rod. The offset waist and ultra-slim neck make the '70 Jazz Bass more comfortable to play.

Vintage-style alnico magnet Jazz Bass single-coil pickups make this Fender bass sound like its forebears. The originals were widely regarded as the best funk basses of all time, and this new Fender reissue makes a great '70s classic bass guitar available to today's bassists.

Includes a gig bag.

  • Fender 70's Classic Jazz Bass

As reviewed by Jesper Hagberg on 7/25/2009

I bought ths bass two days ago, and it has never left my side since then! It is wonderful, the tone the feel (not to mention the looks) The alnico magnet pickups deliver a bright tone that just fit perrfectly with the music that my band makes. It had a perfect set up straight out of the box! But i made one instant modification to it. I put in a pair of strap locks, and i am also thinking about replacing the strings aswell. But overall amazing bass would highly recomend it for someone who likes a bright tone.

  • You can't go wrong with a classic!

As reviewed by B.A. on 2/2/2010

I'm a thirty-two year-old that wanted to reunite with my old love- the bass guitar. Having never played anything that would resemble a name-brand during my younger years, I was determined to see what a Fender bass was all about. I decided on the Jazz bass, and found a sharp black 70's edition (MIM) with the white pick guard and the pearl fret inlays, at my local G.C. Once the intitial lust wore off, I realized that, once I had switched to a set of d'addarios flatwounds and made a few minor bridge adjustments, What I had was a solid, beautiful bass with a great variety of tone. I would recommend the Fender 70's Jazz bass to any bass player, from beginner to pro. I've read all the reviews that claim the Mexican Fenders aren't always up to par. But mine sure is.

  • Great playing, great feel

As reviewed by Steven White on 8/4/2009

Right out of the box, this bass felt good. Of course, it needs some immediate attention to set up. The intonation was oof, and the strings were way too high. But once done, the bass is very good. It plays very well. The price is a little high for a Mexiacan made bass. But the quality and workmanship seems very good. The retro knobs looks great. the neck has that old jazz feel, just a little off from the 70's bases. Overall, I am quite pleased with it.
