A revolutionary bass guitar from a revolutionary time.

Fender's '60s Jazz Bass captures the essence of the decade; an axe as tuneful and groundbreaking as the decade it debuted in.

Many of the period-correct details that made the original Jazz basses so cool are spot-on replicated in this classic vintage-vibe beauty-especially the original offset waist, ultra-slim neck and pair of vintage-style alnico magnet Jazz Bass single-coil pickups. Whether it's early '60s Motown, British invasion and American garage, or later '60s heavy rock and soul, the Fender J-bass embodies a fantastic era in music.

Includes a gig bag.

This bass is a well made instrument. Fit and finish were first class. The tone is to die for. Being the vintage style pickups, there isn't alot of high end, but there is a real nice bottom end and midrange punch. This is the same bass that is used for the Road Worn series. However, having demoed a RW and then playing this, I'm glad I chose this. What a lot of people don't realize is that although these basses are assembled in Mexico, the neck, body and bridge are US.

  • An excellent replica of a 60s Jazz Bass

As reviewed by Eamonn O'Regan on 1/31/2013

I have owned a number of Fender basses made in USA and Japan and these are of undoubtedly high quality. Lately I have been gigging a 2003 MIM Classic 60s Jazz Bass. I love it! It has an authentic vibe, is light and sounds like a good Jazz Bass should. Build quality is excellent-not a ripple in paintwork or rough edge in sight. The neck profile is one of the best I've come across. With the neck pup rolled back 25 percent, bridge and tone full on, the bass has a great JB growl. I notice that blogs discuss country of origin of Fenders. In a globalised world COO is increasingly unimportant. My bass is NOT a genuine bass from the 1960s; it IS an excellent and very reasonably-priced reproduction of a bass from that era. It nails the look, sound and vibe of that era and should anybody think it inferior to a MIA bass, well it's not! I understand that a large proportion of manufacture of this bass is carried out in the USA. All in all, a superb take on a 1960s Jazz Bass. I very highly recommend this model, it really is that good. For a mid-priced quality instrument it's very hard to beat.
