  • Pocket Tone- A must have tool for singers!

As reviewed by Jaime Vendera on 4/20/2007

I find intonation to be one of the beginning hurdles for amateur singers. This can be easily corrected by pitch matching with something as simple as a portable tone generator. That?s why I use Farley?s Pocket Tone, electronic tone generator, in my teaching studio. The Pocket Tone is THE perfect tool for my private vocal students, students of my book, Raise Your Voice, students in choir, students of any vocal coach for that matter! It is small, lightweight, and the most portable tone generator on the market; it easily attaches to your key chain or you can simply stick it in your pocket. It covers one chromatic octave in the key of C (silver) and the key if F (black). Best part of the Pocket Tone?It DOESN?T go out of tune! And it is so simple to operate. No on/off button; just simply press the key of the note you wish to hear, then press it once again to turn it off. This simple device would have been a blessing for me years ago when developing my teaching method, (the Isolation Method) on long drives in my car?I wouldn?t have had to fumble around a pitch wheel blowing in every hole until I found the note I was looking for. I could?ve placed my finger on the first button on Farley?s Pocket tone and worked my way around until I found my starting pitch. (That would have made a lot of drivers happier, knowing I was keeping my eyes on the road instead of blowing on the pitch pipe, hahaha.) If you are a serious student of voice, I suggest you pick up one (or two) of Farley?s Pocket Tones for that matter. I believe in this device so much that I have decided to endorse it in the upcoming release on the second edition of my book Raise Your Voice.
