Fender Johnny Marr Jaguar Electric Guitar (H78835)
Availability:

A unique sonic chisel for a renowned tone sculptor.

Specialized features of the Fender Johnny Marr Jaguar Electric Guitar include custom-wound, Bare Knuckle Johnny Marr single-coil neck and bridge pickups; custom-shaped maple neck with rosewood fingerboard based on Marr’s 1965 Jaguar; vintage-style truss rod; lacquer finish; and Marr’s signature on the front of the headstock.

The 4-position blade-style pickup switch is mounted to the lower-horn chrome plate (bridge; bridge and neck in parallel; neck, bridge, and neck in series) while 2 upper-horn slide switches control pickup brightness. Other distinctive features include a Jaguar bridge with Mustang saddles and nylon bridge post inserts for improved stability; vintage-style, floating tremolo tailpiece with chrome cover; and “taller” tremolo arm with arm-sleeve nylon insert to prevent arm swing.

Marr is best known, of course, as the strikingly dynamic and influential anti-hero guitarist-arranger-allaround-musical-wunderkind behind Manchester quartet the Smiths, which virtually redefined and ruled U.K. pop throughout the 1980s. A master of melody, layering, and texture, Marr has always brought his own instantly identifiable ringing, jangling genius to the proceedings, as he has done in post-Smiths stints with The The, Electronic, the Pretenders and Johnny Marr and the Healers, and right up to the present with Modest Mouse, the Cribs and innumerable guest appearances. Includes case.

  • Fender Jaguar

As reviewed by Douglas Turner on 11/13/2012

I purchased the Johnny Marr Jaguar a few days ago and I am very pleased with the quality and sound/tone of this newest offering from Fender. I already owned a Strat and a Tele and have mostly used the Tele on gigs. However I always liked the looks of the Jaguar and after learning of the approach Johnny took in building this model I decided it just might be made for me, well it is. I play mostly rhythm with some lead in my band and I love the tone I am able to achieve with the 4 way switch and the filtering switches, as well as the tremolo bar. I play the Jaguar through my Fender Hot Rod and after playing guitar for over 45 I have finally found the "ultimate rig" for me. I am very pleased with this purchase, only negative so far is the knob on the 4 way switch fell off the first time I played the guitar, so a little spot of glue took care of that, also I adjusted the action to suit me.

  • Most fun I've ever played

As reviewed by Steve Cartwright on 10/3/2013

I just joined surf rock band and at least wanted to look the part! The Classic Players Jaguars are nice.. but this thing is great! The fit & finish of the neck is incredible (thicker than most Jags) The short scale, vintage frets, and 7.25" fingerboard make it incredibly easy to play. And photos don't do justice to the KO color.. the metallic orange with a hint of copper is gorgeous. But what really makes this Jag stand out is the sound. The specially would pickups eliminate the thin sound often associated with a Jaguar- and the 4th position on the pickup selector switch puts the 2 pickups in series for a deep humbucker sound. (if you find the sound too deep, the high-pass filter switches take out some of the low end without leaving the sound thin) Oh, and the tremolo really is Fender's smoothest. I have more expensive guitars - but none as nice or as fun to play as this one!

  • Fantastic Instrument

As reviewed by Joe Siino on 7/17/2013

This is the perfect guitar for the style that I play. You can achieve a wide variety of tones from Retro-60's to modern rock. As far as playability this guitar is the smoothest I've played. It's beautiful and all of the modifications are practical and make sense. I tried out multiple American Deluxe and Standard Stratocasters and didn't like any as much as this one. Solid guitar, very happy with the purchase.
