Extra-scorching Strat sound and style.

Fender's Deluxe Roadhouse Stratocaster tears the place down with extra-scorching Strat sound and style. Its three Texas Special single-coil pickups are wired for supercharged tonal versatility, with a special V6 rotary switch (disguised as the middle tone knob) that delivers six distinct onboard preamp tone settings from wiry single-coil to searing lead. The S-1 switch built into the volume knob bypasses the preamp completely for pure Strat tone.

Other features include a tinted maple neck with "modern C" profile and large '70s-style headstock, 9.5"-radius maple or rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets, five-way pickup switch, four-ply aged white pearloid pickguard, three aged white control knobs (master volume/S-1, V6, master tone), and vintage-style synchronized tremolo bridge.

Includes gig bag.

  • A Very Versatile Strat

As reviewed by Lawrence Breiden on 10/3/2013

This is the new 2013 version of the Fender Deluxe Roadhouse Strat. There are now both maple and rosewood options for the fretboard. The pickguard (and rear tem cover)is now pearloid and all plastic parts are "aged". The Texas Special pickups remain standard. I have the 3 tone sunburst with rosewood. Looks sweet! But perhaps the biggest change is the onboard preamp (with a 9 volt battery) with six different frequency boosting presets taking your tone from "wiry" to "thick" (Fender's description, not mine) that are controlled by the rotary middle knob (formerly the neck pickup tone control). The volume knob features an S-1 switch for bypassing the preamp, and the rear tone knob (formerly the middle pickup tone knob) acts as a master tone control for all three pickups. There is a noticeable volume drop when the preamp is bypassed. Also, 22 oddity for a Fender from Mexico. The large 70's style headstock is a nice touch and the lightly tinted poly finished neck has the comfortable Fender Modern C shape. The Texas Specials are more punchy and midrangy than typical "vintage" sounding Strat pickups due to being overwound. For some folks this might not be a good thing. So, let's see, a five position pickup selector switch, with six different voicings, and a preamp bypass. Hmmmm...that's 35 tones out of one guitar! Well, not quite. On some settings the differences are almost too subtle. But they're there if you listen closely (In a studio. On a clean amp. With no distortion. And no drummer. Or bass player.) With the 9 volt battery and active preamp this is probably not the guitar for the vintage Strat purist (you know the person I'm talking about. The guy who has the Fender Forum as his browser's home page so he can rant about how Fender hasn't made anything decent since about 1964 and can pontificate ad nauseum about the difference in tone between grounding the volume pot with a white wire versus a grey wire, yada yada...) But that guy probably ain't gonna buy anything made in Mexico anyway. All in all I'd say it's a pretty awesome guitar and for the money I think you're getting a lot of features. Looks good...plays good...and sounds great!

I just tried this out at GC today, and I was just blown away. This thing just sang so sweetly. I had a lot of fun jamming away on this. The tone was perfect. Hopefully soon I will buy this beauty. And hopefully I want the sunburst.

  • A Tone Freaks Dream!!!

As reviewed by Matthew J Kane Jr on 4/19/2014

Reluctantly picked this up after playing a 25th Anniversary for over 12 years and countless searching for something new and I must say I was in no way disappointed. Came perfectly set up and played like a dream right out of the box. I play this through a Mustang III amp and I get countless Incredible tones!!! The Texas Specials are in my opinion one of the best pickups Fender makes and this guitar shows their limitless capabilities. Great tones for everything from Blues to Classic Rock to Country and even a bit of Thrash/Punk. I am going to play this for years to come!!!
