These heads are friggin awesome! I put these on my 14x5 Morgan Rose sig snare, and it sounds amazing! Perfect loud crack, minimal overtones, and it's rich at the same time. I've traditionally used Remo weatherking coated ambassador batters, good head, but way too much overtone, and it didn't have that rich crack, but ever since i bought these genera HD's, my snare's never sounded better. Evans heads may be more expensive, but it's well worth the few extra bucks in the long run.
This head is crazy duty. I had this head through fall and winter. My drums were put through different temperatures of weather all the time. It took a toll on my drums, but this head didn't vary at all! The sound stayed the same, and the tuning even. I play pretty hard, and this head never dented once. I highly recommend this head to anyone who likes a fat, ear-splitting crack that doesn't have too many overtones or any ringing. Used with an Evans 300 Hazy reso, this head sounds sick!
I tend to go through snare heads like crazy, so I wanted to see what the HD could offer me in terms of longevity. What I wasn't expecting was the really good sound I get out of my maple snare. Torque this thing down a little, and the pop is just unreal. I'm looking forward to seeing if the sound lasts like the head is suppposed to, but so far, so good.
The Evans HD Genera snare head produces great sounds from even the cheapest snares. The head is double ply and coated, offering a moderately warm, moderately focused sound. The sound will stay alive through any tuning and cut through guitars like butter. Being a double ply coated head, the HD (Heavy Duty) head will give you peace of mind knowing it is built tough and will last as long as you want it to. Even dents are hard encounter in these heads! If you're looking for a medium, even sound, no matter the snare, this is a great buy.
