Comments about Evans Hydraulic Black Tom Batter Drumhead:

Great attack and Tonal quality, definitely removes overtones.
Kinda dead sounding but that's what I expected with this type of head.
I'm using these to send a clean signal to the board for live performances.

      All I Use

      By Kyle Kowalczyk

Comments about Evans Hydraulic Black Tom Batter Drumhead:

I used to be Remo all the way, and after i needed to change my heads i thought id give these a try after reading their description, and i couldnt have been happier, i have had these heads on my toms for about a year now, and there is only mild smears on them, and one dent in the floor tom, i couldnt ask for a better head, if your even thinking about buying them do it it will be worth the money

The Best heads that don't come from a cow.

      By Rick

      from Flint, Michigan

Comments about Evans Hydraulic Black Tom Batter Drumhead:

My last head change I tried the Evans EC2's all around. I had a hard time keeping them tuned, and I have a 10 piece kit, so it was no small problem. I've used Evans hydraulics previously, and it was a no brainer decision to go back to them. Evans Hydraulic heads are by far the best drum heads you can buy. They have a deep, rich tone, and incredible responsiveness. Tighten them down, or loosen up a bit, they still sound fantastic. No other head will last as long as these, or hold their tone like these. And for those who like a heavy sound from your snare - you'll never go back to any other head. Worth every penny. I do wish Evans would re-issue their chrome resonant heads. Nothing made a kit look better.

      Killer Snare Head

      By CTB

      from Florida

Comments about Evans Hydraulic Black Tom Batter Drumhead:

I just got these heads for my kit and I'm currently waiting on the 8" tom to come in... So, I've only put it on my snare. And this head rules. It brings out the bottom end out of my snare while supplying a great amount of crack and sensitivity. I recommend anyone buying this head. And will leave another review for the toms.

Great, but appearance doesnt hold for long

      By Jared S.

      from Goodyear, AZ

Comments about Evans Hydraulic Black Tom Batter Drumhead:

The Evans Hydraulic heads are great for a while. I mean when I first got them I was very pleased with the sounds that I could produce from them, theyr'e especially great if you can tune your bottom heads to just a little resonate. Although these are great for a couple months the heads will smear very easily and DO NOT use plastic tips on them, they left a gray smear on my toms and it doesnt come off, now my heads look like dalmations. Finally, the thin top black layer will soon crack around the edges(well at least mine did) to reveal a clear layer, but it doesnt seem to affect the sound at all. Overall, i would rate these a 7.8/10. P.S. If you are looking to buy some great, deep heads, try the remo empereors(they also come in black)

      Great sound!

      By Jim

      from Greenville, SC

Comments about Evans Hydraulic Black Tom Batter Drumhead:

I put these heads on an old Mark II drum set to use as a practice set. Mark II drums are made for children to play and are below entry-level drums. I had to use the Mark II for an audition, and the guys told me they loved the sound of my drums. It was the heads that made the sound, not the drums. These are great. If you are a metal or rock drummer who always plays at the same dynamic - loud - these are not for you. If you are looking for a head with great response and decay and allows your stick work to shine while you change dynamic levels at will, these heads are for you. They are very musical and other musicians notice the difference.

      perfect heads for the money.

      By Rick Lukens

      from Croydon,Pa.

Comments about Evans Hydraulic Black Tom Batter Drumhead:

These heads are great.I have used the same heads since 1992 and they are the sturdiest heads I have ever used. After using Remo black dots for 15 years and then Ludwig silver dots, wow these are perfect. They're so loud and have such pronunciation and projection.I use 1 felt strip on the toms(batter heads) and 2 felts on the floor toms(batter heads) with 2 felts on each of the bass drum batter heads and 1 felt on the resonant bass head to just mute them a little to get the perfect growl.
