This head is great if you are looking to get rid of all the High End Screachy Overtones, but still have a lively head that isnt dull and lifeless. I use this head on my 7x13 Tama Maple Artwood Limited, and it sounds good at all kinds of different tunings, although I prefer the sound this head proivides at High Tension tunings. Even if you Prefer Remo Drum heads (or some other brand) for all the rest of your drums like me, this is an exceptional head and you won't find another like it.

A bit too muffled, especially for my metal snares. I have found the ST Dry to be perfect on Aluminum, Copper, Bronze and Steel.

Get it, Buy it, Borrow it. Just play it.

Comments about Evans Genera HD Dry Batter Coated Snare Head:

I think this drum head is one of the better heads i have used, it has that dry feeling that you can really get into. And it cracks like a bullwhip when your doing rimshots, and sounds extremely nice when you are rolling, doing flams, hitting it as hard as you can, and doing blast beats. I love this head and its not too expensive i have had it for about two months now and its showing some wear, but its nowhere near its breaking point.

WOW!!!

By poppy stuff

Comments about Evans Genera HD Dry Batter Coated Snare Head:

I just got this head today, making my official transition from remo to evans, and I am just stunned. If you tune it s\tight you get a really nice poppy snare sound, while if it is looser, you get a lamb of god-ish metal pop. I played on just my snare for thirty minutes straight because i loved the sound so much. this is by far the best choice of snare head out there

Look no further!

By Matt

from Katy TX

Comments about Evans Genera HD Dry Batter Coated Snare Head:

I have tried all sorts of snare heads out there and none have come close to this head. I have used this head for over a year now and i will never change. Match this head with the Hazy 300 then torque your tuners way up and hold on to your throne because its gonna blow you away! The crack this head makes cuts through any levels of music in any environment. A must have for live or studio play.

Amazing!

By Robert

from Harleysville

Comments about Evans Genera HD Dry Batter Coated Snare Head:

I've bought this head twice now because it's just so great! First I picked one up for a cheap Ludwig Accent snare and immediately the difference was noticeable. A few months later I bought one again for my '68 Ludwig Supraphonic and it brought it back to life! I used to have a Remo Powerstroke3 head on it and it rang and buzzed just a little too much. But with this head, it really sang. Despite it being a really thick head, I was able to tune it nice and tight just how I like it, didn't have any trouble at all. And even though it says "dry" it really doesn't give a dead sound at all. It's bright, warm, and poppy, and pretty much perfect for either studio or live settings.

Best Crack You Can Buy

By Chris Evans =)

from Arnold, Maryland

Comments about Evans Genera HD Dry Batter Coated Snare Head:

I bought this head for my 14 inch Gretsch catalina maple snare. And i tuned it real.....alomst low and washy, practically static like. Like an old civil war snare. And it was clean fun for hours to play around on. But i am in a touring band right now. And we mostly play Metal hardcore proggresive kind of stuff. And once i was done fiddiling with it. I Tuned it real high. REAL HIGH. to get that nice crack i desire. Slapped a moon gel on it. And its......amazing. Undescribeable. The overtone ring does what it said it would. Get this head

VERY CLEAN SOUND, BUT NOT THE LOUDEST...

By KEN LAPI

from HANOVER, PA

Comments about Evans Genera HD Dry Batter Coated Snare Head:

I TRIED THIS SNARE HEAD TO SEE HOW IT COMPARED TO THE STANDARD HD GENERA, THIS ONE BEING THE DRY WITH THE HOLES TO ELIMINATE OVERTONES. IT IS VERY CLEAN SOUNDING, BUT NOT AS LOUD AS I HOPED. THE HOLES TAKE RESONATION OUT OF THE HEADS, TOP AND BOTTOM. WHICH HELPS WITH OVERTONES, BUT ALSO STOPS THE SNARE BEADS FROM GETTING THAT FIERCE CRACK I GET OUT OF THE STANDARD HD! BOTH ARE IN MY OPINION THE BEST SNARE HEADS, BUT IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A WICKED CRACK, GO WITH THE STANDARD HD GENERA BATTER, AND USE SNOT OR GEL PADS ON TOP AND BOTTOM.

Great Versatile Drum Head

By Ryan Bowers

from Reading, PA

Comments about Evans Genera HD Dry Batter Coated Snare Head:

I have this head on my Tama Star Custom B/B 14x5.5 snare and my Ludwig Black Beauty 14X6.5 snare drum. They dry out the drum real well and help out in live settings. I find the heads to produce more volume, which means I don't have to worry about miking the snare drum. I use Remo Emperor clear resonant heads on the bottom which gives just enough ring so the drum doesn't sound dead. Tuning is a breeze and they are extremely durable.

      By Keith

      from Silver Spring, MD

Comments about Evans Genera HD Dry Batter Coated Snare Head:

I got the Evans Genera HD Dry head to replace my recently broken Evans Hydraulic head. In a single this head is AWESOME! Very comfortable feel, great response even at the higher tuning levels. This head has tremendous rim shot capability that even the rest of the guys in my band were commenting on how great it sounded. Can;t wait to hear this thing live in the club.

      Simply a GREAT snare head!!!

      By Josh Anderson

      from Chicago, IL

Comments about Evans Genera HD Dry Batter Coated Snare Head:

Ok; so just like a lot of other drummers out there, I've always played Remo heads and never really even thought about switching brands until a member of the drum department staff at my local Guitar Center recommended this head to me...I am blown away by what this head can do! I have the new Taye Studio Maple (10-ply) 7"x13" snare that I've been trying out different heads on...searching for that deep snare sound that you can just feel in your chest - this head does it! I have a Remo Ambassador head on the snare side (tuned to an 'A'), with Puresound 24-strand brass snare wires. With this Genera HD Dry on the batter side (tuned to a 'D'), I can get those nice and tight soft rolls, and when you really hit it - Wow, it totally cracks with a nice and deep punch that is just pure tone! It really brings the natural sound/tone out of the deep maple shell, with no nasty ringing overtones and just amazing attack. I truly am loving this snare head!

      SNURR

      By Chives

      from Houston TX

Comments about Evans Genera HD Dry Batter Coated Snare Head:

This is an extremely great snare head. I bought my main snare USED with this head on it,and after a year of extensive playing (about 5 hours a day)it still sounds great and holds up to blast beats, funky grooves, pounding. It's pretty versatile too,i can just crank it up on my Piccolo Snare, and i can play a wide variety of styles with no tuning changes. I might never change it if it holds up longer haha.

      The Perfect Sound For Me!

      By Laura Olsen

      from Florida

Comments about Evans Genera HD Dry Batter Coated Snare Head:

I use this on my 14"x5" wood snare. I use it with a Hazy 300 resonant. It has little sustain with good strong attack. It has venting holes on the top to help lessen the sustain. I play harder rock, like Alice in Chains, and I feel it compliments the music well. It also has a killer rim shot. Overall I think that once you get this snare head, you won't ever change, it's perfect.

Comments about Evans Genera HD Dry Batter Coated Snare Head:

I had this head on my snare for a little over a year and was suprised it lasted that long. It gave me a loud crack and allowed me to still do soft roll crescendos into a full snare roll.
