I have this head on a Pork Pie Big Black Brass Drum, and I must say that it is the best part of my set other than the snare itself. The precision and dryness of the attack sings, but doesn't choke or wind the drum. Its sensitive, but can take a serious beating. Tune it high for ultra precise ghost notes and rolls, or low for a fat "TAK" sound any harder playing musician would love. I refuse to play with anything less. The porting is a must! It allows the snare to play unhindered by dampening while still maintaining the ring perfectly.

I got the reverse power dot snare head a while back and it was amazing, i had to replace it and was told that this head was great, and i was sadly mislead, Could Not Hear My Own Ghost Notes! Did not provide me with Power, Pop, and Dynamic Control, This Snare head has taken away my groovy power drumming, im definitely getting the reverse power dot back, If you need a head to provide High Attack with a Brighter Pop, and perfect for playing anywhere from LIGHT Ghostnotes to LOUD Dominance, the Reverse Power Dot is the way to go

BEST HEAD EVER !!!!

By michael alston

from plainfield , new jersey

Comments about Evans Genera Dry Batter Snare Head:

It's very hard to find a great sounding head for my snare . I use a Tama Starclassic Brass Snare . This head is THE BEST BY FAR !!!I cant stand a snare that has a lot of overtones ! Some is good , but not a lot . Tuned right , this head gives me what I need ! I don't know what type of snare you use but , if its any type of metal snare , THIS IS THE BEST HEAD TO USE !!! You will not be disappointed !!!

Know what kind of sound you want!!

By JOE SHUPE

from Sparta, MI

Comments about Evans Genera Dry Batter Snare Head:

Great head for specific needs. I would suggest this head if you have a ringy snare. Any material that has a natural ring (bubinga, steel, etc..) that needs control, this is a good head for. I also would suggest this head if you are in a studio situation and need a very controlled snare sound. HOWEVER, if you are looking at heads, and chose this one because its popular, you may be dissapointed. It can and will dry out your drum! For some thats good, others wont like it. Personally, I like a more full and open sounding drum. If you like that too, I would suggest either an Evans ST or Remo Emperor X. Both I feel are more versatile. I give this head 4 stars only because I feel you can achieve a dry sound out of many more versatile heads with muffling by moongel or other means. So I feel like it has a lack of versatility.

Crack!!

By Tom Carr

from Parker, AZ

Comments about Evans Genera Dry Batter Snare Head:

I've used just about every head out there in search of that special sound and the search is over. The Genera Dry is the most versatile head I've played; crank it down for a wicked crack or loosen it up for a solid pop. The dry vents eliminate the overring while keeping the body full. I've used it on Maple, Birch, and wood composite shells and it has never disappointed. Never had one pull out at the rim or split and I don't go easy on them. Get it, tune it, play it and love it. Shazam!!

Disappointed

By Joe K

from Trenton,MI

Comments about Evans Genera Dry Batter Snare Head:

I was looking for a head that didn't require dampening and this one fit the bill. However, I found it difficult to tune at first. It sounded great on my 13x6.5 Pearl Joey Jordenson snare but it was pitted badly after 1 rehearsal & 4 church services and is now in the trash. In over 30 years I've never had a snare head destroyed this quickly and I'm not what you'd consider a heavy hitter.I've used Evans G1 on 14" snare & loved it but in this case I'm going back to Remo.

Awesome head

By Luis Suarez

from Monterrey, NL

Comments about Evans Genera Dry Batter Snare Head:

This head is made for drummers that want a very dry sound in their snare sound without that ringy sound. The best part is that the sound you obtain is very natural with a very pleasant tone since there is no need to use a dampening ring, just the head and that's it, perfect sound. The best choice if seeking for a dry sound.

That studio snare sound you've been looking for - in any situation!

By JP LeClair

from Oshkosh, Wisconsin

Comments about Evans Genera Dry Batter Snare Head:

Oh man, this head rocks. You get this nice, fat, sticky, dry attack/tone without the need for dampers and/or tape. Tune it up and start rockin! I have a Pork Pie Big Brass snare, tuned around medium. I get this awesome snare sound without all the ringing. If ringing is what you want, this head isn't for you. But if you like that studio snare sound - this is it. It's not a choked sound at all... just the attack, snare and depth. Highly recommended.

Out of the box perfect sound

By auxknob1

from Marietta GA

Comments about Evans Genera Dry Batter Snare Head:

I purchased this head and the Hazy 300 for my old Tama 14" steel shell. I was looking for that dry mild tone for a recording session. Out of the box this and the hzy3 tuned up awesome. I only re-tuned once to soften the overtones a tiny bit. This head was designed to be dry and it did not disappoint. Very versatile head when properly tuned. It tooks some licks & got dimpled up a bit. But that's lack of talent not an Evans issue.

I'll never use anything else

By crdrummer

from texas

Comments about Evans Genera Dry Batter Snare Head:

This batter head blew me way! As soon as I put it on my snare i was just in awe at the sound. Little to no overtones yet it still gives the drum sound an character. I couldn't stop talking about it the first week and still go on and on everytime I set my kit up at a gig. This is the best snare head I'v ever played on. Works with the many styles of music I have to play. The only snare head I will purchase from now on.
