These evans 1 ply heads are great for the resonant side. They are a little thicker than other 1 ply heads and they just give an awesome sound as a resonant head when you have any type of batter head on top wether it be a coated g1, ec2 or a hydralic. If you dont think reso heads make a sound difference then i encourage you to pick one of these up and put it on the reso side and see for yourself.

Don't get them!

These heads suck. They have weak sound and don't give you any edge at all. They might be durable, but they sound dull. Even when they are tuned to perfection! Would not...Read complete review

Comments about Evans G1 Clear Batter Drumhead:

I use clear and coated Evans G1's primarily as a resonance head to accompany my Remo CS batter heads. The clear G1's make my tom and floor tom really boom, with more prominent bass without too much overtone. The coated G1, accompanied with the Gibraltar 14" 42-strand snare wire, gives my coated Remo CS snare batter head a hefty chopping sound with great tone, rather than a thin single ply snare side head that makes a smacking, slapping sound. Great product that fits my needs perfectly.

Comments about Evans G1 Clear Batter Drumhead:

I originally purchased this drumhead as a replacement for my 10" tom. I quickly found out it was not at all what I expected. It is an Evans drumhead, so it is easy to tune, it is single ply, which makes for more resonance, and it was clear, which explains the attack, and it is very durable. I would prefer G2 Clears for the kind of music I play, but these make some wicked resonant head. They are also great backup heads, because they are more affordable than the standard G2's. In the end, not a bad first tom drum head. (P.S. I'll upload an image soon)

Comments about Evans G1 Clear Batter Drumhead:

I admit I resisted using Evans again. I've used them before with OK results. But I ended up trying Level 360 clear G2s as tom batters and clear Level 360 G1s as resos. Immediate improvement. The drums came to life like never before. The toms tuned up quickly and easily. I also have a power center reverse dot on the snare and a clear GMAD on the kick. I've finally found my sound!

      Use as a Resonant!

      By Skater1

      from Rochester

Comments about Evans G1 Clear Batter Drumhead:

This drumhead should be classified as a resonant head only, not a batter. If used as a batter, it has an extremely weak, ringy sound that wouldnt be too far off from the stock head you're taking off that came from the factory. Instead, if used as a resonant head, it has incredible tone, and a fantastic low end. I paired it with my G2 coated heads and it sounds like an absolute dream. I recently turned a side snare into a rack tom, and with the help of the G2 coated as the batter and G1 as the reso, it sings like any other tom in its size. Two thumbs way way up for Evans!

      Amazing

      By Brian

      from Lexington, KY

Comments about Evans G1 Clear Batter Drumhead:

I just swapped out the stock Made in China British heads on the 16" floor tom of my ddrum kit. With this being my first acoustic kit, I was initially disappointed with the depth and tune-ability of the 16 and was considering an 18". Not anymore. I removed both old heads and installed this as the reso first. I brought it up to tune just a bit higher than resonance and tested it holding it by the rim. The depth and thunderous bottom end of this head alone was shockingly impressive. Paired with a 16" Evans EC2 with SST, this tom now sounds absolutely amazing. I'm excited to try the 12 and 14" soon. I haven't put strenuous effort into finding the sweet spot tuning it, but even just roughly tuned, I no longer want for a new kit. :)

      great reso heads

      By Mudflaps

      from Wisconsin

Comments about Evans G1 Clear Batter Drumhead:

When I put these heads on my kit as batters they made my drums sound very hollow and they got a weird ring but when I put them on as resos with Remo Pinstripes as the batters the sound was amazing. So batter=horrible, Reso=Great

      Evans G1 clear batter head

      By Anonymous

      from Undisclosed

Comments about Evans G1 Clear Batter Drumhead:

I have used this head on my friend's old Pearl 4-peice drum set, with a 12" and a 16" tom. The toms had a lot of overtone but he had some Evans e-rings on the toms and on the snare, and the rings really helped the overtones. But even with the rings, I still didnt quite like the sound. They made the drums sound hollow, and echo-ish, and had a strange, faint ringing that made the entire set sound weird. I highly recomend the Evans G2 coated batter head, you wont be disapointed with that one. But this one is unpredictable. I dont recomend getting these.
