Comments about Evans EQ4 Batter Frosted Bass Drumhead:

I am the audio engineer and drum tech at our church. The drummers at our church as well as the entire band favor this kick drum head. We use it on a birch stage custom kit. It has amazing attack in the low end and is very dynamic. The mids and highs are pretty balanced as well. The softest to the hardest hits respond well. We use it in conjunction with a kick port added to an evans EMAD resonant head. This setup really shines under 125Hz right where the sweet spot of a kick drum is for our type of high energy music. With the kick port, the resonant frequency is around 45Hz. The excellent attack from this head and short to medium sustain are very nice. We have tried many kick drum heads and this is the favorite for everyone.

        The Best Head Ever!!!

Comments about Evans EQ4 Batter Frosted Bass Drumhead:

I had this head on my bass drum for 7 years!!! yes, 7!, and I play with double beater (double pedal). The tone, sustain and attack are incredible!Sound engineers said it was the best kick sound they ever heard when they miked it.One time I tried "the other well known brand", and I could not believe how crap my bass drum was!Evans heads turn any kit into a great sounding kit!

        Evans quality

        By Mike

        from Georgetown, KY

Comments about Evans EQ4 Batter Frosted Bass Drumhead:

I use nothing but Evans heads and I liked this head. I also used the EMAD clear which I prefer. I felt the EMAD has a more thumpy, deep, full but yet controlled and kinda punchy. Atleast on a 22" drum.

        Very nice head!!

        By Gary

Comments about Evans EQ4 Batter Frosted Bass Drumhead:

I have had this head for several weeks now and it lives up to what the description says it will do. I use it on a 1976 Slingerland 20" bass. It has great punch-nice low range and the muffling ring does a great job of keeping out unwanted higher overtones. It does have a loud boom, which I prefer for outside performances. But it is also great for studio sessions and small room work. I did have a Remo head on it for quite awhile-but much prefer the EQ4. The sound is unbeleivable. Much better than the Remo head. The EQ4 doesn't sound like plastic when the beater makes contact-but a smoothe, warm tone. If you like a warm, booming sound with great low end punch-this head is for you.

        Perfect for my kick..

        By Jeff-LoKlJ

        from Worcester MA

Comments about Evans EQ4 Batter Frosted Bass Drumhead:

tried a bunch of new heads on the Gretsch New Classic kick, which is a thicker rounded edge shell than most.. The muffled heads were too thuggish (super kick was awful, the emad better, but still left no resonance behind), the stock head too ringy. This Eq4 coated gave me the perfect balance, just enough muting but gave me some resonance after the initial thug, workd perfect for this drum.

Comments about Evans EQ4 Batter Frosted Bass Drumhead:

This is great, my bass drum sounded like crap before this and when I got this it sounded like a professional drum and it's a pretty cheap kit. Great job Evans!

        Unique Self-muffled Bass Drum Head

        By Bigbangbooomer

        from New Hope, PA

Comments about Evans EQ4 Batter Frosted Bass Drumhead:

I use a coated EQ4 on the resonant side of a vintage Gretsch kit and I love it. It lets the true tone of the drum come out without as many overtones and with a bit less boominess. The coated look is pretty cool - looks gray on stage. I don't care for clear heads on a vintage kit. Coated white would be better, but...

        Durability-Moderate? HAH!

        By Invertibird

        from In a cave

Comments about Evans EQ4 Batter Frosted Bass Drumhead:

Maybe it's because it came with a patch, but this drumhead's durability is extreme. Not only that, but it sounds awesome. I have a twin-size topsheet folded up inside my bass drum and this sucker has a wild sound to it.Some people like a bass drum to boom. Others like it to thud. I like mine to be a nice happy medium. This little guy gave me just what I wanted. It does have a semi-soft feel to it though. So if you're the double kick speed metal type, it may not be your cup o' tea.I have no plans of changing it anytime soon.
