Low End Boom

By Daniel

from Durham, NC

Comments about Evans EMAD Clear Batter Bass Drumhead:

This head is a great head if you are looking for a good low end boom without much sustain, but still a good amount of Resonance, although the Evans website told me the head was going to be more Punchy and Defined. Overall still, this is a good drum head for all level drummers if you cant decide what you want, but want a decent head, that can be adjusted to fit your needs.

Perfect Solution To A Common Problem

By ulyanov77

from Atlanta, GA

Comments about Evans EMAD Clear Batter Bass Drumhead:

This head is the answer to a lot of drummer's prayers. It provides a great level of control over what your bass drum sounds like. I don't think I could live without the rings now. Professional drummers may have a hired drum tech to work out the drums to perfection to hours on end, but some of us don't have that time. Quick and easy is what is described when I want a completely different sound to come from my kick.

EMAD The Best BD Head

By The Time Keeper

from Elk Grove, California

Comments about Evans EMAD Clear Batter Bass Drumhead:

Before the Emad I used the Aquarian Super Kick II which is an excellent drumhead and until the Emad came to be, I would still be using. The Emad gives you everything you want i.e. punch, feel and tone. Yes, everyone is different, generally speaking you can't go wrong. Just put the head on find which dampening ring works best for you and go to work.

Turn your pee shooter into a CANON

By Madnad_Capone

from Knoxville, Tennessee

Comments about Evans EMAD Clear Batter Bass Drumhead:

I really love this head. I've tried other damped bass heads (like Aqurian Superkicks) and I love the feel of this head. The only problem I have found is the black plastic groove that holds the foam dampener on the dead will come off by itself sometimes when you keep your kit set up in a cold enviroment like a rented storage facility. For the poor drummers like myself that have to rent non climate controled places to beat their skins chances are you will have this problem in the winter months. Luckly most of the time it happens when the head is near the end of it's life and won't stay in tune or holes form under the beater pad. NOTE TO EVENS.. find a better glue.

Great head to work with

By DJCapcomBoy

from Mukilteo, WA

Comments about Evans EMAD Clear Batter Bass Drumhead:

I use this head on my personal home kit. While it has external dampining, I choose to put a pillow inside as well to get the right "thud" for my music. The dampening ring REALLY helps though. Great head!

Best In All Classes

By Vincent "Sleep" Hicks

from Bronx NY

Comments about Evans EMAD Clear Batter Bass Drumhead:

I have never played on a better bass drum head than the Evans EMAD. With the adjustable tone rings, you can't go wrong. This drum head is ready to go straight of the box, no pillows needed. LOL. I use this head on both my travel and practice kits and have been faithful for a few years now. In fact, I still have the very first one I bought still going strong on my practice kit. I HIGHLY recommend this to all players of all ages and skill level.

By donnyfox123

Comments about Evans EMAD Clear Batter Bass Drumhead:

I knew this head was gonna be awsome right when I looked at it because of the muffling system. And I was right, it sounds great no matter how you tune it and it has a strong punch. Its an AWSOME bass drum head.

great head

By anonymous

Comments about Evans EMAD Clear Batter Bass Drumhead:

it has a nice deep thud and its easy to tune and it does not have a ring after you hit it.I advise a super kick pad so the beater doesnt dent or damage your head.

I recently purchased this ...

By Travisbarker182

from ma

Comments about Evans EMAD Clear Batter Bass Drumhead:

I recently purchased this head after kicking thru my old bass head and this has to be one of the best quality bass drum heads on the market. The dampenign pad is a nice feature all tho it does not dampen it completly i still had to throw a small pilow in but it does help. Overall this is probley one of the most durable and this thing will withstand some seroius hits and last you a long time.

Ausome Head

By Wideoutvike

from Michigan

Comments about Evans EMAD Clear Batter Bass Drumhead:

I put this head on my Ludwig accent combo and wow what a difference, even though the bass still sounds decent at the best, the emad makes my drum sound somewhat respectable. The interchangable rings are a great feature and give off two different sounds. The only complaint is the head does dent quite easily so get a patch to protect it or check out evans new emad 2 which is a 2 ply head so it will last much longer. This is a great head and it can do wonders for your bass, Highly recommended.

Best Bass Head Ever

By Matt

from South Bend, IN

Comments about Evans EMAD Clear Batter Bass Drumhead:

It'll make your bass drum sound better, guaranteed. Without the muffling rings (soft foam) the head sounds like an improved version of any basic head. With either of the two rings though, it sounds just like pro's. I think the thicker ring is great, makes the drum sound like a canon, but they're both amazing.

Great tone and kickback!! Awesome Head!!

By Remy05

from Gardendale, Al

Comments about Evans EMAD Clear Batter Bass Drumhead:

I previously busted my bass drum head at practice and was in a hurry to get replacement. My friend suggested the Evans EMAD and said he'd heard good things about it. I was cautious at first, but decided to go ahead and get something that would be worth the money. The difference between my old bass head and the Evans EMAD is amazing! I strongly suggest giving it a try!

Great Head

By Peter

from California

Comments about Evans EMAD Clear Batter Bass Drumhead:

Although I prefer the Aquarian Superkick II, I use this head on the kit at church. This head does a great job of muffling your bass, but not muffling it too much. I got a very nice boomy sound of the bass with this head. One thing I don't like about this head is that the rings tend to fall out after some time. But overall, this is a great head.

Shut up and get this!

By Michael

from Lexington, NC

Comments about Evans EMAD Clear Batter Bass Drumhead:

WOW. When I bought this, I figured my bass wouldnt sound good, but not THIS good. I always thought my bass didnt sound that good, and I figured it was just my drums I got...but when I slid this thing on, and threw on 2 Evans AF Patches, it blew me away. I have never really been a bass drum lover, just a tom and cymbal type guy, but what a world of diffrence this has made. Thanks to Guitar Center's guys for helping me on this one!

Anyone feel that?

By UnderParDrummer

from Issaquah, WA

Comments about Evans EMAD Clear Batter Bass Drumhead:

I have a 24" bass drum, and until I bought this head, eq'ing for recording was less than fun. This head provides that tight deep punch that everyone wants. This head projects that desirable deep punch, and leaves little to no resonance to make a cloudy sound. The smack pad provided adds the attack for a well rounded bass drum sound. WELL WORTH EVERY PENNY.

Great Head

By VicFirthFan123

from illinois

Comments about Evans EMAD Clear Batter Bass Drumhead:

This head allows you to adjust how much dampening you want on the outside so you don't have to get your drum key out and take the head off and add another pillow or something. Also no more duct tape. All in all this is a miracle head and probably the best out.

nice head

By Jesse

from Rutherford, New Jersey

Comments about Evans EMAD Clear Batter Bass Drumhead:

The evans emad is a nice head to work with. The interchangeable muffling rings work very nicely. The only downside is that I still needed some muffling inside the drum, just a small pillow. I was expecting the head to do all of the work but I guess it depends on how you want your bass drum to sound. I like mine to have a nice punch with very little resonance which required me to still keep a pillow inside.

By Aaron Sanchez

from Richmond, California

Comments about Evans EMAD Clear Batter Bass Drumhead:

I just got this head for my 22" gretsch catalina maple bass drum and it just sounds awesone. it takes a little time to break in. but it feels very durable and comes with variable foams rings to adjust the dampening on the sound of the bass to achieve the desired sound. just love it. it is well worth the money!!!

I won't Complain

By Taylor G

from Tucson, AZ

Comments about Evans EMAD Clear Batter Bass Drumhead:

In conjunction with the Evans EMAD Resonant Bass Drumhead, this head sounds amazing, as if your foot rests at the base of a cannon. I love these heads. The pair has great durrability and great sound. Now, after hearing Remo's Powersonic Clear Bass Drum Head, 6 months after I had already purchased my Evans EMAD pair, I'll admit, I wish I had bought the Powersonic Batter Head, it sounds much better at a better price by a few bucks. Nonetheless, If you care about owning a bass head pair more than sound, you can't go wrong with this EMAD batter Head. It sounds amazing, and will support itself through your vicious beating if that's your style.
