I bought EC2 heads because I wanted a focused and very define sound out of my toms without choking them, and they did just that and more! I was amazed at the tuning range that could be achieved with these heads. The dampener ring underneath the 2 plies controls head vibration which creates that dampened sound without making it dead. My highest tom tom doesn't have those annoying overtones anymore and it makes my 14 inch tom sound fat. The head brought the warm tone out of my maple drums and they delivered an increased attack with every strike. It's perfect for the styles of music I play. I haven't even made any dents in it yet, so it must be very durable. It's got a lot of features and quality for a good price. Go Evans!!

drumming for 30 years. Installed the EC2's on my maple shelled kit today. These heads sound awesome on the SMALLER diameter shells(8",10",12")especially the 8 and 10. NOT SO MUCH on the larger diameter shells (13" 14" and 16"). The Remo Pinstripe comparable heads sound much better on these larger shells. I found that these heads CRY OUT FOR YOU TO USE use a thinner resonant (bottom head) such as the Remo Diplimat and not the medium weight heads like you more likely are use to. I ALSO FOUND that these heads sound better when tuned at "HIGHER" tuninings than "LOWER" tunings. THESE HEADS ARE IDEAL FOR BIRCH SHELLS IN MY OPINION. I am not sure at this point if I will buy EC2's again.

Great Tom Sounds

By chidrums420

from Naperville, IL

Comments about Evans EC2 Clear Batter Drumhead:

These durable two ply heads are perfect for any type of music. The Ring dampens the sound of the drum without totally killing the sound like remo pintstripes. With good tuning these can make any kit sound great. They are very durable, and also sound great mic'd live and in the studio. Definately try these out.

The Perfect Sound

By ChrisN

from Concord California

Comments about Evans EC2 Clear Batter Drumhead:

I have always perferred Remo heads over Eveans in my drumming carreer, but ever since I tried these Evan EC2s on a Tama Starclassic Maple in guitarcenter, my opinion has completely changed. The have to be the best sounding heads Ive ever heard. The highs are high. The mids are amazing. The lows are just plain amazing. I don't know how to describe it, its just the perfect sound. Really, these are some deadly quality heads that are infallable in every way. Basically, you get what you pay for (and more!)

These heads are worth it!

By IDrum4Fun

from Lynnwood, WA

Comments about Evans EC2 Clear Batter Drumhead:

I have been an active drummer for about 10 years now. I can tell you that these are the drum heads that I have grown to love. I like a muffled sound in my toms and these heads give you just that. They dampen those annoying overtones while keeping that rich acoustic sound everyone is looking for. A must for those who are looking for a good tone in there drums.

not so good on larger diameter shells

By Michael Fenton

from Mobile, Alabama

Comments about Evans EC2 Clear Batter Drumhead:

I decided to switch to evans heads after 30 years of drumming. I bought this heads for a Mapex Saturn Pro maple kit. The EC2 heads sound absolutely awesome on the smaller diameter shells. NOT so good in my opinion on diameters of 14" or larger. I put them on 8,10,12,13,&14". I found that YOU HAVE TO TUNE THEM A LITLLE HIGHER THAN YOU ARE PROBABLY USED TO for them to sound thier best.I have Ambassador wieght head on the bottom of the toms. it sounds like EC2's cry out to be used with thinner resonant(bottom) heads.

Very good heads

By drummasta

from Beaverton, OR

Comments about Evans EC2 Clear Batter Drumhead:

These heads are some of the best I have ever played on. They give you great tone for any style of music and they also reduce overtones. I own a really cheap pulse pro laquer drumset, and these babies make it sound a whole lot better. Just throw on some moongels and there's literally no overtones at all. These are outstanding heads. If you have the money, buy these.

Maximize your toms

By plexrocks

from Rocklin, CA

Comments about Evans EC2 Clear Batter Drumhead:

Evans EC2 will maximize the needed tones and minimize the unwanted overtones. I used to use dampining pads and zero rings, now with the Evans I have finally found the right tone without the unwanted over tone rings.

Best All-Around Head EVER!

By Gilligan

Comments about Evans EC2 Clear Batter Drumhead:

I have played Remo's to Aquarian's Performance II series - The Aquarians stopped my drums ring instantly - Dead Drums! These are PERFECT! I haven't been happier with a head...I will be sticking with these heads for a long long time! Buy these heads and you will not be dissapointed.

Amazing for starter sets with toms that ring.

By UnlikelyHero42

from Winter Springs

Comments about Evans EC2 Clear Batter Drumhead:

The Evans Ec2 drum head series is absolutely great, expecially for those "ringy" starter sets. These heads are great, the built in Edge Control ring cuts out the higher "ringing" evertones, but doesnt choke the sound out like other ring arresting aleternatives. For the hard hitters, this head is built 2-ply so you dont have to worry about beating the heck out of these, they can take quite a beating.

Amazing!

By Jshoes21

from New Jersey

Comments about Evans EC2 Clear Batter Drumhead:

The Evans EC2 drumhead has to be the best drum head I have ever used. I have been playing for 7 years and went through alot of drumheads, but nothing compares to these. They're extremely durable and don't ring to much and aren't to dead either they're perfect. I have had a set on for 7 months and no dents nor do they show any signs of giving out anytime soon. I Highly recommend this product!

Awesome Heads!

By Todd

from Austin, Tx

Comments about Evans EC2 Clear Batter Drumhead:

I just got these heads and they are amazing. I got these to replace the stock heads that came on my new drum set and you could tell right away what a difference these heads make. I was looking for a lower end sound for my toms and these heads deliver. Excellent quality heads, buy these! You will not regret it!

Great Head(s)!

By Chris

from Brunswick, Ohio

Comments about Evans EC2 Clear Batter Drumhead:

These heads are fantastic! They sound great on my Pearl Masters set. The 2 plies gives the durability I want, and the sound control ring does a great job at controlling over tones without choking/dampening the sound (or the natural tone of the drum). While these heads are a little bit pricier than others, I would highly recommend trying them. I have tried other heads, but always come back to these or the Evans G2 Coated. I recently put then on my kit and then recorded in a studio. The sound of the raw tracks (no EQ) was absolutely amazing! I also used them live the following evening. They were just as good live, too!

Great head for the money

By kevin winston

from orland park, illinois

Comments about Evans EC2 Clear Batter Drumhead:

i got these heads about a wek ago and they sound really good! i got the 12" 13" 16" and 18" and put them on my Rogers Usa Holiday edition. they have a bright tone and dont give off much of those nasty overtones. comparing them to the original heads( which were the Rogers Brand name heads from 1960's) is an amazing difference. i never noticed how much ring i had in the old ones until i got these.they resonate for the perfect amount of time. not too short like a bass drum, but not too long. i think its a great head and its great for the money, and id reccomend it to anyone weather they barely play or they play every day.

Nice tone.

By Nicholas Shelton

from Gulf Coast, AL

Comments about Evans EC2 Clear Batter Drumhead:

I ordered these heads for a Pearl stencil set, 70's Japan. I fixed them up and cleaned them, first heads. I love them, they have that open tone, when tuned in at least a musical interval with the resonant head or in with each other (mine). They require minimal moon gel for unwanted tone or sustain; like half of one piece on the batter for 12/13;" half on top half on bottom for 16." Tuned to A, G, C respectively. The dampening ring off of the bearing edge is excellent, keeps tom sustain, no choke sound.
