Overview

EC Reversed Dot snare heads come with a unique "reversed dot" made with the same 3mil material as the ring. Each head consists of a 7mil top ply and 10mil bottom ply for maximum durability, especially with the reversed dot version (which totals 20mils thick at its center). This features the sophisticated edge control system that banishes unwanted overtones.

A translucent frosted coating lends a unique, attractive look. Despite the head's relative thickness, it has a forgiving feel; ghost notes project tremendously well; rim shots offer a "tweaked" palette of rich overtones; and center-of-the-head strokes yield fat, focused tones. The stress-relieved reversed dot patch has the unique effect of eliminating some mid-range frequencies, yielding a desirable crack in all tuning ranges.

For snare drums it's particularly effective and yields a pre-EQ'd sound that will please both player and sound engineer.

This is an amazing head. I had the worst snare ever. It was one of those stock ones that comes with me pearl set and it had this horrible ring on the stock head that came with it and I could never get that nice pop and crack with it. I put this head on and there was no more ring and I got that crack I was looking for. The only reason I gave the quality a 4.5 was because there were a few small holes in it when I got it. But other than that, this is the perfect head to buy if you want to make your bad snare sound alot better.

I picked up this head because it was recommended to me by a friend. I had just recently bought 14" by 6" pork Pie beech snare that I absolutely fell in love with. I played with the stock head for a couple weeks before I decided to use my reverse dot. Long story short the pork Pie stock head sounded 10x better than the Evans head. For some reason it was very difficult for me to tune and when I did find the sound I liked it was only in the center of the drum. If you hit it anywhere else it is dead with no tone what so ever. I'm pretty disappointed so next I'll be trying out the temp coated ambassador.

Great Drum Head

By Jack

from San Diego, CA

Comments about Evans EC Reverse Dot Coated Snare Batter Head:

I have a lousy pearl forum series snare and had been using a stock pearl protone head. My snare used to ring a ton but this head allows it to give off a quick, powerful cracking sound. If you have a bad snare this will make your snare sound much better, with this i recommend get E-rings to stop all ringing from your snare.

No Moongels, tape, or muffling rings

By Davian

from Brooklyn, NY

Comments about Evans EC Reverse Dot Coated Snare Batter Head:

When I put this new edition of Evans Snare drum heads it blew me right off. No ringing response on this head the built in ring with the dot controls that area of the snare when being played sounds crisp and warm. I have a 7x13 snare drum and it sounds great. Out of all heads Evans has created this head, the best seller out of Remo and other drum company heads. Before when I bought Remo's drum heads I will always put damping tape, moongels and e-rings but with this head everything is design and created with the silver rings inside the snare head dampings all internal & external ringing from the snare drum. This head plays apart of the EMAD system built in this head wonderful.

Amazing

By Jessy

from Joshua Tree, CA

Comments about Evans EC Reverse Dot Coated Snare Batter Head:

This is the best snare head ever! I was sick of always getting heads that dont sound good and ones that do but will start denting or rip after like a month. I had this head about four months now and it still sounds great. I recomend this if your a hard hitter or a soft hitter!

Killer!

By honest abe

from rochester, MI

Comments about Evans EC Reverse Dot Coated Snare Batter Head:

This has got to be one of the best and most durable snare heads Iv ever used. It takes all the warmth out of my birch snare, and gives it a loud crack with very little high-end over tones. It is also incredibly durable, due to the two plies and center dot. This is one of the only heads I haven't put a dent in. Definetly worth trying

Pop and Crack

By Cameron

Comments about Evans EC Reverse Dot Coated Snare Batter Head:

The skin made my junk snare sound a lot better than it did but I don't have the crack that I want. I can't do rim shots it doesn't work. besides those two things it is a great head.

Awesome

By Bradley

from Macon, Ga.

Comments about Evans EC Reverse Dot Coated Snare Batter Head:

Great head! Snare has a great deep sound that is perfect for the country band I play in. Have had everyone in the band comment on how awesome my snare sounds with the new Evans head. I have not put one on my aux. snare yet, but I will order it next and I'm sure it will sound just as good cranked up to a higher tuning...no need for any dampening! Awesome!

The Best. End Of Story.

By Richard

from Atlantic City, NJ

Comments about Evans EC Reverse Dot Coated Snare Batter Head:

I've Tried them all, I would bounce back and forth between a Coated Remo Powerstoke III, and an Evans HQ Dry for my Mapex Birds Eye Maple Black Panther and PigLite Acrylic, until I tried this head. Along with a set of Puresound snares, provides a crisp attack, a nice crack from rimshots, clear crisp ghost notes, amazing sensitivity and simply unsurpassed durability. Typically I would change my snare head after every gig, but I've had this head for months now, and it still sounds amazing, and tunes up perfectly. Recommended, nay, demanded to anyone looking for the best.

Can't go wrong with this head

By Padre Sanchez

from Tampa, FL

Comments about Evans EC Reverse Dot Coated Snare Batter Head:

I have very heavy hands. I haven't come across a REMO head that I haven't blown out in one gig. This head takes a beating and sounds better as it gets older. Picks up a little more warmth and crack.

Great!

By Luke

from West Chicago, IL

Comments about Evans EC Reverse Dot Coated Snare Batter Head:

This head gave my snare a nice loud crack that sounded awesome. My snare even sounds like some 300 snares that I've tried and my snare is just a stock tama snare. Get this head you wont regret it. Also upgraded your snares and resonant head will help the sound a lot too

Awesome!!!

By David

Comments about Evans EC Reverse Dot Coated Snare Batter Head:

This is an awesome snare head best I have ever heard personally. I put this on a low end chrome snare and it made it sound like a pearl snare. I would recommend getting tone control rings because they make it sound even better.

Great on snare, great on toms!

By Cole M.

from Tulsa, OK

Comments about Evans EC Reverse Dot Coated Snare Batter Head:

This drumhead is really good on snare. Especially if you don't have microphones. It sounds really good without any mics or anything. I was messing around and put the 14 in on my floor tom for my Gretsch catalina jazz shell pack and i have an ebony ambassador as the reso. The two heads sound amazing together!!! I use just a regular white coated on my snare and the ec2 on my floor tom. I really want to buy a 12 inch head for my rack tom.

By Andrew

Comments about Evans EC Reverse Dot Coated Snare Batter Head:

I have this head for a while and the head itself sounds amazing. When I tuned the head for the first time putting it on my snear drum, it sounded amazing. I suggest getting the reverse dot snear head over a regular head.

Best head, nuff said.

By Maggie

from Walnut Cove, NC

Comments about Evans EC Reverse Dot Coated Snare Batter Head:

I had been using a PDP stock head for months. My snare rang A TON and I thought there was actually something wrong with the drum. But when I put this head on, there was no more ringing or rattling from the snare wires. My snare sounds absolutely GODLY with this head. Evans never disappoints!

Great crack and durability!

By Fred Davis

from Indianapolis,IN

Comments about Evans EC Reverse Dot Coated Snare Batter Head:

I use a 1980's vintage Ludwig Acrolite snare for gigs. The Evans EC Reversed Dot Coated Snare Batter Head really cracks on this drum!Rim shots really cuts through! The band and other drummers who hear/play it love it.After 1 1/2 years it hardly shows any wear.Stays in tune well. Behind the kit, recorded on a camcorder or a professionally recorded cd at the gig,the sound of this head is simply awesome!

Decent head, not my style.

By Ian Jones

from Kanss City, MO

Comments about Evans EC Reverse Dot Coated Snare Batter Head:

I play Jazz, Hiphop and Neo Soul mostly. I couldn't get the sound i wanted from this head. Really beefy, hardly any snap. Has a "honk" to it no matter how i tune it. Also rings quite a bit. Had to use two moon gels just to have it be listenable. This head would sound good for rock or country, but jazz guys, BEWARE.

Comments about Evans EC Reverse Dot Coated Snare Batter Head:

I recently bought a Mapex Amoury Daisy Cutter (6.5 inch steel snare). First thing I bought was a reverse dot head. I was concerned about the ringing, but it isn't too bad. I ended up putting a small piece of gaf tape on it - now it has a nice crack with a small ringing which I don't mind. Cuts thru all other frequencies when playing live and sounds pretty good when mic'd up. I'd buy another one.
