EC Reversed Dot snare heads come with a unique "reversed dot" made with the same 3mil material as the ring. Each head consists of a 7mil top ply and 10mil bottom ply for maximum durability, especially with the reversed dot version (which totals 20mils thick at its center). This features the sophisticated edge control system that banishes unwanted overtones.

A translucent frosted coating lends a unique, attractive look. Despite the head's relative thickness, it has a forgiving feel; ghost notes project tremendously well; rim shots offer a "tweaked" palette of rich overtones; and center-of-the-head strokes yield fat, focused tones. The stress-relieved reversed dot patch has the unique effect of eliminating some mid-range frequencies, yielding a desirable crack in all tuning ranges.

For snare drums it's particularly effective and yields a pre-EQ'd sound that will please both player and sound engineer.

This is an amazing head. I had the worst snare ever. It was one of those stock ones that comes with me pearl set and it had this horrible ring on the stock head that came with it and I could never get that nice pop and crack with it. I put this head on and there was no more ring and I got that crack I was looking for. The only reason I gave the quality a 4.5 was because there were a few small holes in it when I got it. But other than that, this is the perfect head to buy if you want to make your bad snare sound alot better.

I picked up this head because it was recommended to me by a friend. I had just recently bought 14" by 6" pork Pie beech snare that I absolutely fell in love with. I played with the stock head for a couple weeks before I decided to use my reverse dot. Long story short the pork Pie stock head sounded 10x better than the Evans head. For some reason it was very difficult for me to tune and when I did find the sound I liked it was only in the center of the drum. If you hit it anywhere else it is dead with no tone what so ever. I'm pretty disappointed so next I'll be trying out the temp coated ambassador.

Comments about Evans EC Reverse Dot Coated Snare Batter Head:

This head cracks nicely if you hit it directly on the center dot. It's just dead if you hit it anywhere else, and you succeed in merely rattling your snares a little. If you enjoy a lively snare head this is not it. This is good for really straight forward rock or something basic, but not for anything like jazz, country, or funk.

I'm an old rock n roll drummer and have used every brand batter snare head and this is my favorite. It will tune dirty to perfection.

        Cuts like butter

        By Tony

        from Washington dc

Comments about Evans EC Reverse Dot Coated Snare Batter Head:

I love this drums head. I used to play with coated heads but after a while of playing, that hard crack and attack disappears and while you're playing you get out of touch and u can't hear your snare drum essentially. I came across the ec reverse dot because I tried ec2's on my toms and I have to have a full matching package. When I first put it on, I didn't like it at all. It was too low like I couldn't get a good tone from it so I took it off and went back to the sound fading Coateds. One day I said I'll try again and this time I tuned it up pretty good and I fell in love and been using the reverse dot ever since. Some of u don't like it because u can't get your sound. It's just tuned too low for its thickness and for me I have to have a snare that cuts through everything and it is 100% consistent 200% of the time and this head honestly never let me down. Added thickness means higher tuning capability and I turn this sucker up like nobodies business and it's always there for me and I can't seem to choke this thing. Great head and I'll continue to use it.

        Decent head, not my style.

        By Ian Jones

        from Kanss City, MO

Comments about Evans EC Reverse Dot Coated Snare Batter Head:

I play Jazz, Hiphop and Neo Soul mostly. I couldn't get the sound i wanted from this head. Really beefy, hardly any snap. Has a "honk" to it no matter how i tune it. Also rings quite a bit. Had to use two moon gels just to have it be listenable. This head would sound good for rock or country, but jazz guys, BEWARE.

        Great crack and durability!

Comments about Evans EC Reverse Dot Coated Snare Batter Head:

I use a 1980's vintage Ludwig Acrolite snare for gigs. The Evans EC Reversed Dot Coated Snare Batter Head really cracks on this drum!Rim shots really cuts through! The band and other drummers who hear/play it love it.After 1 1/2 years it hardly shows any wear.Stays in tune well. Behind the kit, recorded on a camcorder or a professionally recorded cd at the gig,the sound of this head is simply awesome!

        Not great for metal snare

        By AARON MARTINEZ

        from East Moline IL

Comments about Evans EC Reverse Dot Coated Snare Batter Head:

Overall this head looks appealing, but when I put it on, it was hard to tune and on my pearl export snare I was unhappy with the sound. The "unwanted overtones" were not banished. Very durable and I'm sure if you have a good snare you can find a good sound.

Comments about Evans EC Reverse Dot Coated Snare Batter Head:

I had been using a PDP stock head for months. My snare rang A TON and I thought there was actually something wrong with the drum. But when I put this head on, there was no more ringing or rattling from the snare wires. My snare sounds absolutely GODLY with this head. Evans never disappoints!
