Ok, so they do the job, getting rid of the ringing. The only problem I have with them is half of the ones I bought that are supposedly fit don't. They almost always fly off while I'm playing, and if they don't then they always get caught on my drumsticks. I really do not like them.

E Rings

By Person

from Buckeye, AZ

Comments about Evans E-Rings Pack:

I love these things. I had been using moongels before i got these, and they were ok. They got the job done, but they kept getting dirty, and they made my drumhead blue. With these, i dont have to worry about any kind of "dirty-ness" and they stop all the ringing/set the tone. Plus my drumhead stays the desired color.

Inexpensive resonance control

By zimbop

from Southwest

Comments about Evans E-Rings Pack:

The Evans E-Rings are a cheap and simple way to control resonance. Perhaps the best reason to use rings instead of tape, velcro-dampers or moongel is that they're easy to put on and take off in two seconds. I like some overtones in my snare for some tunes and not for others. When I want more resonance, I simply take off the ring and hang it on a cymbal stand, then put it back when I'm ready. Plus when you change heads you don't have to waste material or transfer velcro pads, just lift off the ring and put it back on the new head. Perhaps the only downside is that they're hard to find individually and even harder to find in odd sizes. I have yet to find an 8" ring for my small tom. I'd also love to get an additional 10" for my accent snare but most places only seem to stock the sets. Moongel doesn't have this problem, but I don't like smearing goober on my drums either. :-)

Comments about Evans E-Rings Pack:

I baught these after i got a pearl masters mcx set, the kit still had the remo stock heads on and at the time i had no clue how to tune drums! i heard about the rings and decided it was worth ten bucks to make my drums sound like HEAVEN! now that i know how to tune my drums, they sound 100x better!

What I need

By John

from St. Paul

Comments about Evans E-Rings Pack:

I play with EC2's on my kit. Of course the heads sound nice, but I just thought they were still missing something. The E-rings surpassed what I was looking for!!! With the E-rings my toms sound more firm, warm, and rich. They E-rings go around the edge of the tom so it won't get in your way when your playing, plus their pretty much invisible so you won't even know they're there.

Spectacular For All

By yngvaiani

from Cranford N.J.

Comments about Evans E-Rings Pack:

I slapped one of these on my Joey Jordinson snare and it sounded like a whole new drum. There isn't much to be expressed outside of the statement above, but if your looking for a new sound, without killing you drum head, use these, there easy to remove and a snpa to put back on. Bottom line: BUY IT!

Great

By Matt

from Buffalo

Comments about Evans E-Rings Pack:

I use these on a drum set from the 70,s, And they helped so much, they took the ringing sound right out. The only thing bad is that they tend to fly off at times so just tape them down a little, I totally recommend them to anyone with ringing drums.

They do what they're supposed to do, they look good too, but...

By DK

from From wherever I darned well please

Comments about Evans E-Rings Pack:

I like how these are clear in color. The Remo's are an ugly white. One thing to keep in mind is that there is a possibility you can pick up a dud pack which may have one or two rings which are not 100% round. My first pack had a 10" that wouldn't sit properly on the drum. At first I got scared and thought my hoop war warped but it was the e-ring. You can either return it for another pack or just cut it a little rounder. I like these better than moongels because I think moongels muffle too much and they are affixed instead of floating. Also moongels will color your coated heads blue and you cannot remove the discoloration! I use the e-rings for practice, quiet play, and when I'm mic'd up. For live play, I like the drums to be free and open. The package also comes with a nice article on the backside regarding tuning your drums. I recommend using these with non-muffled heads. Why would you want to muffle an already muffled head anyway?

Awesome

By Alec

from Englewood, Colorado

Comments about Evans E-Rings Pack:

I was trying to get my toms tuned without overtones. I went to GC to see if I was doing anything wrong. They said my toms sounded ok, but I want to get rid of the overtone. So they recommended these to me. I brought them home, put them on and it was like magic! The over tone was gone! I'm going to continue to use these a lot.
