I have used these hyd heads for what must be 20 years or more. These things take that "ring" out of the drum quite nice and as mentioned in the listing, it gives your drums a fat sound. I swear by these heads and when others play on my kit they always say how nice my drums sound. I tune them and as with any drum, from time to time a little twist on the rod is needed. They last forever, not kiding here, I have had some for 5 years and only replaced them because I felt it was time. They are nice and quiet when playing jazz type and powerful if really laid into. You can't go wrong with these heads, give them a try and like myself and many others I have showed these to, they love them and you will too. I play a 25 piece vintage ludwig/zildjian kit...50 year old plus, sweet zildjians!
