The Hydraulic Blue tom batter is an oil-filled, 2-ply head. Fat and wet sound with dry, short sustain. The oil decreases sustain and enhances attack without affecting feel.
These heads are the best I have ever played. They have a great warm tone and sustain. They last longer than any other skins I have used in the past. A great value!

These heads are frickin' AWESOME! I first tried them a year ago, and the sound just blew me away. They have a very wet, musical tone with a short sustain. But they don't fade so fast as to sound dead. They're just right there in that sweet spot. Evans has really hit their stride with these babies. These are the Pinstripe's biggest competition right now. If you're an Evans man, pick these up!

I have used these heads for approxamately 12 yrs straight and they still hold up.These are much better than the crappy Ludwig heads that came with the kit. These have enough ring to make your kit pronounce over the amps yet don't overring. It's great if you put some felt strips under the heads, esp 2 of them under the floor tom batters and bass batter heads.

I have these exact blue heads on my drums-I did'nt know they head 'em in clear or black or I would have gotten them.I have had them for at least 14 years and they have'nt damaged yet.Anyways, these drums sound like thunder on the low toms and really give the small toms pronunciation and overall improve your sound.I have felt strips on all my drums, which are Ludwig classics, and I use 2 felt strips on the batter side of the floor toms and one felt strip on the toms. For the bass drums,I use these heads on the batter and my original ludwig resonant heads and use one felt strip on each of the bass heads, and these heads sound so boomy and heavy, which is good.I have a small room so it helps if you're in a large studio or playing them in a large hall.Only bad part is if they would add Ludwigs' headlock system to it,it would be perfect because these things change tune and crack like crazy along teh water.but if you want great sounding heads that are durable and full of resonance, get em.You can tension 'em up high and they will sound lie you are in a concert hall.
