  • Great sound!

As reviewed by Jim on 3/5/2009

I put these heads on an old Mark II drum set to use as a practice set. Mark II drums are made for children to play and are below entry-level drums. I had to use the Mark II for an audition, and the guys told me they loved the sound of my drums. It was the heads that made the sound, not the drums. These are great. If you are a metal or rock drummer who always plays at the same dynamic - loud - these are not for you. If you are looking for a head with great response and decay and allows your stick work to shine while you change dynamic levels at will, these heads are for you. They are very musical and other musicians notice the difference.

  • perfect heads for the money.

As reviewed by Rick Lukens on 1/4/2008

These heads are great.I have used the same heads since 1992 and they are the sturdiest heads I have ever used. After using Remo black dots for 15 years and then Ludwig silver dots, wow these are perfect. They're so loud and have such pronunciation and projection.I use 1 felt strip on the toms(batter heads) and 2 felts on the floor toms(batter heads) with 2 felts on each of the bass drum batter heads and 1 felt on the resonant bass head to just mute them a little to get the perfect growl.

  • The Best heads that don't come from a cow.

As reviewed by Rick on 3/1/2011

My last head change I tried the Evans EC2's all around. I had a hard time keeping them tuned, and I have a 10 piece kit, so it was no small problem. I've used Evans hydraulics previously, and it was a no brainer decision to go back to them. Evans Hydraulic heads are by far the best drum heads you can buy. They have a deep, rich tone, and incredible responsiveness. Tighten them down, or loosen up a bit, they still sound fantastic. No other head will last as long as these, or hold their tone like these. And for those who like a heavy sound from your snare - you'll never go back to any other head. Worth every penny. I do wish Evans would re-issue their chrome resonant heads. Nothing made a kit look better.
