Good, Strong Head

I just got this snare head today, it being the memorial day sale and all. I get home and take off my crappy old snare head that ive been playing off of for 2 weeks now (and it breaking after 3 days [but of a different brand NOT evans]) and then it blew me away. compared to the old head i had, this was like playing on animal skins its so thick. the one thing i dont like about it is the deep sound it has. now, im not saying dont buy this because it has a deep sound. it just wasnt what i thought it would be, but then again, i just walked in and asked whats a good one and walked out not looking at it at all. its a very good head and i would recommend it.

Very Dry Head

I used this head on one of my snares before. I got a very nice, dry sound out of it. It sounded very nice, but the sound just wasn't right for the music. If you are looking for a head that will make your snare sound dry, check this head out.

Evans HD Dry

I've had this head for about a month now. The name is definitley an accurate description of the sound- dry. It is almost too dry for my liking, but it still sounds good. It gave my drum a powerful, beefy sound. I recommend this to those who like very dry sounding drums.

Not for metal snares

I got this drumhead today and it is NOT for metal, aluminum, or any kind of anything thats not wood. It sounds excellent on wood snares (preferably deeper ones) but it makes my pearl export steel snare ring like a tin trash can. I will say it filters out all the excess noise though (hurray!). If you like a ringier, louder, more high pitched sound and you own a metal snare go for it. Personally i still think its more wood snare oriented.

Loose the Remo's and make for the Evans

If you can't stand the way the Lars Ulrich's snare sounds on St. Anger, which should be anyone with ears, then this is the head for you. Cuts out the majority of overtones and dries that sucker right out. Lasts forever too. Like most everyone, I started out with Remo heads, but the coating would ware off within a few minutes and the head would be stretched and junk after a couple months. These heads take a pounding for months with little to no loss of coating while maintaining great feel and tunability. I recommend Evans for all drums!
