I have used evans G2 coated for 8 years. They have a consistency from head to head. It takes about 3 months of daily playing for me to replace them only because of the coating wearing down. I usually use these heads for live bebop and big band jazz. These heads have a brighter tone than normal coated heads. So, if you are used to the coated REMO Ambassador heads, the Evans G2 coated will have a brighter tone.
By far the best head I've used, especially for snares. It gave my snare that fat, wet sound while still giving it lots of "crack!" I have a Gretsch Catalina maple snare and combined with these Evans g2 coateds and Evans O rings my snare sounds godly! I put these on all my toms too to give them a nice warm and deep sound. If you seat and tune these right they'll last you a long time without degrading in quality too much. Recommend to anyone!
this is one of the best drum heads that you can put on a tom. I purchased this yesterday and just by putting it on and finger tightening it it made my 12'' rack tom sound great. I highly recommend this drum head to anyone who wants to make their toms sound good.
