I have a Risen Drum Set. It's a drum company out of Minneapolis, MN. I bought a Evans G1 for the snare drum because it was on sale at Guitar Center. I don't think I will ever need to buy a different head for this snare drum, and would HIGHLY recommend it for anyone who doesn't know what to buy for that great snare sound. These would work great on Toms as well. Evans rocks and I'm fully impressed by the G1's. Tune these guys up high and you get a huge crack! Tune them lower and can get some cool ghost notes. Check Evans G1's out and you won't be disappointed.
This head brings out the real sound of the drum you put it on. It sounds very clean, real nice and deep, i absolutely love it! I recommend this head for your whole kit!
i had been looking for a particular sound for my snare (the near garbage can sound, i.e. korn's debut cd; nickelback's silver side up cd) but to no avail. FINALLY i found it in the G1 head. my snare is a peace 14x5.5 metal snare and everything seemed to have too much snare pop to it. this head creates overtones on the outer edge that aren't too overbearing, yet blend in perfectly with the snare pop to give me exactly what i'm looking for with no dampening ring needed. i also have this head on my 10" tom and it gives me the warmth and tight pop i'm looking for. i have G2's on my 12 and 14 toms with dampening rings and i love them as well. in my opinion, evans makes the best heads, at least for the sound i'm looking for.
