The description about this drum head is completely accurate. The sound I want for my snare drums is achieved using this drum head. I've come close with other drumheads but this is perfect. The extra 2 mil made a big difference. The 12 mil head provides a fatter tone, more depth, is more durable and has more focus than a G1 or Remo Ambassador but still thin enough to have an open sound with a pleasing "ring" to it.
To me, it's comparable to the Evans power dot but the G-plus does have somewhat more of a vintage tone to it, that being an open, ambient yet definitive "pop" and "crack" sound.
I put the drumhead on an inexpensive 5.5x14 Pearl Forum snare and it now has the best sound it's ever had and most likely ever going to get! I used the Pearl snare for an outdoor gig and it sounded full, not the usual overly bright, thin sound I hear when playing outdoors and that was because of the G-plus drumhead.
I will be replacing all my snare drums in the near future with Evans G-Plus coated drum heads.
Why didn't one of the big 3 drum head companies
think of this 10 years ago? It's a simple idea to increase the thickness slightly more and for me it's perfect.
I got this head when I purchased a used Joey Jordison signature snare and, it sounds awesome. I used to use Evans Generea Dry and that broke after a couple weeks of playing but I've had this since February and it hasn't let me down. I recomend the 13 inch for anyone who wants a good snare head.
