These patches aren't anything special with a ton of features, I mean, it's ONLY a patch; but it sure does extend the life of your bass heads if you place it right where your beater hits the head. It also can dampen overtones if you don't have any other dampening devices in/on your bass drum
I got the Evans EQ Bass Drum Patch with my brand new remo powerstroke 3 bass drum head . For only 4 bucks i didnt think i could go wrong. Well when i slapped them on, i noticed that i really didnt like the sound. The patches are pretty thick and my bass pedal hits didnt sound very loud. But when i tried to take them off, the sticky substance from the back of the patches stuck to my bass drum head and i cant get it off. well, it looks like im gonna have to get a new one...
I've had these for about two weeks and they were working great, this morning I took my pedals off for some adjustments, and realized how worn my felt beaters were. there the round beaters from the demon drive pedals, but the side that hits the bass drum was totally flat, the entire time ive owned the pedals the beaters had barely worn at all until I got these patches. if you have wood beaters then your in the clear and these are probaly great for you, but for people with felt beaters look for a different product
