Evans broke new ground by developing the EC2 batter head that removes unwanted drum overtones, focuses pitch, and enhances attack without inhibiting dynamic range as other damped heads do. The EC2 features an "Edge-Control" ring mounted underneath two plies of 7mil film. By controlling, instead of eliminating, edge vibration, the ring isolates and damps higher overtones, enhancing low-end and attack, and enabling a broader tuning range.

these heads are very high quality heads, no doubt. they have a good warm sound, and wide tuning range. i got them to replace my remo pins,(which i hated, dont get them) and the sound was amazingly improved. i was quite pleased withe the result after i tuned them to my liking.these heads are awesome. only reason i gave them 4.5 is cuz theyre kinda expensive, but its worth it. GET THEM!!
Well, I stuck these on my DW Collectors kit and they sound pretty decent. I took a gamble, and ultimately I still prefer the sound of the classic G2. I feel like these kinda choke the natural sound of my drums, but if you have a lower quality set then these are probably a great bet.
I bought these Evans EC2's about eight months ago, and their sounding as good as when i got them new. When i bought them, I was looking for the punch and attack of clear heads, but also the warmth and depth of coated heads. These, in my opinion, are a great choice if you cant make up your mind. I put them on my secondhand Tama kit, and it made a world of difference. The edge control rings are sturdy enough that they dont come off, but thin enough that they dont muffle the sound. And the coating is semi-transparent instead of opaque white, so it is hard to tell if its wearing off or not. Not that the coating wears off easily, of course. Honestly, if you're looking for heads that give you a great tone with a great balance of warmth and punch, look no further.
