Evans brings EC (Edge Control) technology to resonant heads.

The EC Resonant tom head is the first bottom head to promote the natural tone and body of any tom by means of frequency "tweaking." The EC Resonant tom head is constructed from a single ply of 10 mil ultra-clear film augmented with the Evans EC ring. It attenuates unwanted overtones and centers pitch, while delivering a desirable mid-range frequency bump. It's the first head to have the capacity to control and correct the tuning inconsistencies of bottom heads, a long-standing roadblock to perfect tuning for many drummers. The result is a more resonant, fatter tom that projects a truer pitch, irrespective of volume levels.

Evans made a quantum leap with the EC Resonant. This head should stun drummers accustomed to attributing better tom sounds only to batter head selection. They'll be shocked to discover that their dream tom sound was laying in wait: the EC Resonant releases it.

  • Best Evans resonant heads!!

As reviewed by Brandon Walls on 3/19/2011

These heads are the best resonant heads I've used since I've been playing. They have no overtones and they really open up your toms to have a nice deep tone. They sound good on 8"-12" toms and nasty sounding on floor toms. I am using EC2 heads and I love them, however I may use Hydraulic heads for an even more low tone.

  • Great head...worth the price!

As reviewed by Keith on 1/22/2009

This head brings it all together. The thicker film construction of the head allows for deeper, more focused tone that a lot of rock/metal drummers love. I like Evans heads (was playing with Hydraulics on my kit) but wanted to try and open up the sound of my Tama Starclassic kit a little more. Putting on the EC2 batter heads with the EC Reso heads on bottom has really opened up the sound without a lot of ring, overtones, or unwanted noise coming from the drums. The key is to match the pitch top & bottom. I promise you will not be disappointed!

  • Nice for what they are

As reviewed by Trevin on 8/4/2010

I've used EC2 heads since they came out a few years ago. The batter heads are all i use and I love the new version. The EC2 Resonant heads do help take some of the ring and overtones out but it's not going to be an instant fix for all of your drum sizes and types. Depending on the sound you like and the design of your bearing edge it will vary, so could be great for some and terrible for others. I have very sharp bearing edges and tons of resonance so some drums still required a little more muffling, especially the larger toms.
