Overview

Made out of fine metals for superior tone production, the Etude EAS-100 is the perfect instrument for starting out on the alto saxophone. The keywork, pads, and adjustment all work together to make tone production easier, more consistent, and stronger. And the bell brace and construction help make it as durable as possible. Includes case, mouthpiece, cap, and ligature.

It may be tempting to buy a "better" horn used, but saxophones are mechanically complex, and if the horn is not well regulated and set up properly, it will be extremely difficult for a student to play. It is perhaps advisable then for a new student to get an Etude EAS-100, brand new, set up perfectly, and ready to play right out of the case. It will be shiny and beautiful, and your young saxophonist will jump up and down and squeal when he or she sees it. Pride of ownership inspires practice, and practice leads to success.

Etude believes believe that price should not be a barrier to experiencing the growth and joy that comes from making music. That's why Etude offers you five of the most popular woodwind and brass instruments at an incredible price: flute, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet, and trombone. And no matter which you choose, you get a great design and outstanding construction that will give you years of musical enjoyment. See for yourself!

Stay away from this product. Out of the box, brand new, several of the keys did not seat properly and leaked air. Brought it back to the store and the person who helped us arranged for a return. The 'return' came, but honestly I don't believe this was a replaced item, but a repaired item. In any event, again, leaking air and a piece of cork popped off the third time in use. I'm faced now with going back to the store again! I'll be asking either for a NEW instrument or that Guitar Center pay for the cost of a professional repair.

Awesome little sax!!

By DOUGLAS DECKER

from omaha, nebraska

Comments about Etude EAS-100 Student Alto Saxophone:

My youngest son wanted to play sax in school so we did some local research and the local 'band music' stores were charging list price for a new one and wanted to rent one for $50 a month. Craigslist was a joke as well.... This sax at this price is amazing. It sounds and plays great for the money. I would recommend this to anybody who's starting out.

Lost a star for tone quality only

By Kristen Brown

from San Jose, CA

Comments about Etude EAS-100 Student Alto Saxophone:

This is a great student saxophone. I purchased two for the school band and had a professional compare it to a higher end sax. It lost points for tone quality, but not significantly. He found the key's were awesome for fingering and tension was perfect. It was lighter in weight and narrower in the neck making it all the better for our grade school age students. SO glad I bought TWO! If I had the budget...would have bought more!

    By Robert Raymond

Comments about Etude EAS-100 Student Alto Saxophone:

This saxophone is being used by my 8th grader for his first year of band at school. It has everything he needs to get started. It is slightly less expensive than renting for the year and, hopefully, he will use it for years to come. Great instrument, great price.

Waste of Metal and Manufacturing Processes

    By Scott Shoaf

    from Cecil, MD

Comments about Etude EAS-100 Student Alto Saxophone:

This thing honked like a goose. The band teacher did everything he could to make it work. Yeah, it had good reviews, yeah it had a hardshell case, and yes it is new. But, it didn't work even in an elementary school band situation.

    Great Saxophone

    By JACOB JOSEPH

    from Severn, MD

Comments about Etude EAS-100 Student Alto Saxophone:

I am a 16 year old musician. I play 4 instruments (drum set, guitar, bass guitar, piano/keyboard), well 5 now because of this saxophone. I've been wanting to learn and play sax for the LONGEST time and my mom and dad got me this one for Christmas 2012. I now have been playing this instrument for a few weeks and I love it!!! I picked up on it so easily and it's very easy to play. The fingering positions are so easily placed and well put together for a beginner just like myself or another beginner. Overall...great sax!!!

Comments about Etude EAS-100 Student Alto Saxophone:

The sax sounds good for a student saxophone. A high range is a bit flat and the lower range is a bit sharp, spcially the low Bb. - I am exaching it for another of the same model, so hopefully the next one is good. I know this is an innexpensive sax, but it does not have to be out of tune. - I will change my review depending on how the next sax is.

I bought this sax for my daughter for her band class. I had her play it when we got it home to make sure it was a playable instrument. She had her band instructor check it out as well. It's not the best sax on the market, but it was perfect for my daughter and my budget!

Comments about Etude EAS-100 Student Alto Saxophone:

I am happy with the purchase because it does serve its purpose as a starter instrument for my son, in his schools band assembly. It was cheap, and we got what we paid for. But it would be crazy to spend a large amount of money before the child knows that he is def sure he wants to continue with the instrument. It plays and notes well, it just has an obnoxious, for lack of a better work, tone to almost each key that is played. But as I said, it is most perfect for serving the purpose in which it was intended.
