I am so glad that I own the Ernie Ball thumbpick because it is simply the best thumbpick ever made. If you don't have one I recomend you get one. Even if you use a regular pick, you should atleast try a thumbpick because it adds such a wider variety of playing styles to your guitar playing. The reason I like the Ernie Ball thumbpicks are because the picks have not too short, but not too long tips and it is not such a thick pick. Therefore, the picks are essential for fast picking styles. I recomend this pick to any guitarist! Ernie Ball is always a great buy.

I got this pick because I wanted to be able to play by tapping and going right back into strumming without having to worry about finding something to do with my pick. I also figured it would allow me to incorporate a bit of finger-picking for string skipping even though I play electric guitar and I play it with distortion. I am a 6'5 guy with hands that are large even for my size so I figured I would need a large size pick. They were out of sale at the time, and I am glad they were, because even the medium picks were too large. The pick stuck out way too far to be functional and any up-strokes with it would pull it away from my thumb, then making it snap back after it came off of the string and constantly shifting where the tip of the pick is. I never tried a small or large size, but hopefully the size describes how much of the pick sticks out and not how large the thumb space is - if all sizes stick out this much, I am afraid that all of them are basically unplayable. I would also appreciate if these picks were made out of a harder plastic so it doesn't get dragged as far on up-strokes and resists shifting a bit more. Even if someone wanted to play with a softer pick, the thumb mount should still be made of a harder plastic because in its current form it just doesn't work for precise play. Lastly, the colors were also a little silly. Besides black, pretty much everything else is candy colors. Selling these in packs of 1 color would not cost the company any money and it would certainly make their customers' experience better. I would also like to see transparent plastic as a color option, as it would make the pick a bit more invisible for anyone who is trying to make themselves look like they do not need the aid of specialty picks to pull of their techniques.

Rather small for a size large. But I have big hands. Other than that they work fine.

For the price they are fine. They are a little thinner than I like. I prefer Dunlops. But for having a spare or two in the case can't go wrong with the price.

Comments about Ernie Ball Thumb Picks:

I enjoy playing Spanish Gypsy Guitar on my classicals. These picks work really well for me.
I have thumbs that measure 2 1/2" (65mm) in circumference. The mediums fit snug and stay on when things get fast and wild. For me and my style of playing the medium size was the correct size.
If you don't like the color, paint them. I took a white pick, sanded the logo off and covered it with silver glitter nail polish. A yellow one with gold glitter nail polish.
They now really have the "Gypsy Look". I even sprayed a few black.
I keep them in my hard shell case, my gig bag and a few around the studio.
                I will purchase more.
