Ernie Ball 2732 Cobalt Regular Slinky Electric Bass Strings are round-wound for maximum clarity and serious punch. The Cobalt Series is clearly an improvement on its classic nickel-wound counterpart giving the player increased sustain, clarity and output. In addition, they resist sweat and moisture better and have unmatched flexibility when compared to other nickel wound strings. Cobalt is the most magnetically active string alloy on the planet and attracts the magnets in your pickups more than any other string.

"Ernie Ball Cobalt Bass Strings are the new standard! Bigger, better tone, sustain and volume. Finally a real innovation with strings." - Randy Jackson
"I can't believe how much low end I get out of Ernie Ball Cobalt Bass Strings. Also, the high end is super crisp, seemingly with more definition. Unbelievable." - Dave Larue

All Ernie Ball strings are precision manufactured to the highest standards and the most exacting specs to assure consistency, optimum performance and long life. Made in the USA.

I'm experimenting with different bass strings and was impressed by the Cobalt strings for my Taylor, Gibson and Fender electric guitars. The Cobalt Bass regular slikny strings are a good fit for my Fender Precision, and produce a very nice sound. For some reason, the "A" string is producing a buzz BEHIND the nut (between the nut and tuner) - ??? This is the first time I've encountered that.

I wanted to try these strings out of curiosity, I liked these at first, but they are too bright for bass at first. Then I found out that these strings only last 3 months. I only played my bass once a week for 2 hours a day and I opened my case one day and they were so rusty, they smelled really bad. I went back to the regular strings and they are in much better shape than the cobalt strings were after one month.

I have been playing bass since the early sixties and have never had such a good sound, and good action. I will be getting a set for my 5 string Fender Jazz bass soon.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2732 Cobalt Regular Slinky Electric Bass Strings:

I've been using halfwound strings for years. Only because I love the low lows and a decent high they have to offer. I was talked into these ones by a friend, knowing I wouldn't like them. I put them on and within two weeks I struggled to admit that I love them. They have solid low's and clean crisp high's. These will probably be the strings I use for the rest of my bass playing career.... or until something better comes along.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2732 Cobalt Regular Slinky Electric Bass Strings:

These strings have been described as having increased volume, punch and low end and I have to say thats an understatement. Makes regular strings seem wimpy. As far as how long they last, that remains to be seen. Had them on for a week so far playing every day and I've not seen any difference in tone and feel. Two thumbs up!

Strings have lots of output and would really shine for slap

Comments about Ernie Ball 2732 Cobalt Regular Slinky Electric Bass Strings:

I play mostly in a blues band, and like a fat, thick tone with lots of bottom and some midrange punch. I was excited about these strings after hearing about their increased output. However, for my purposes I find that they have too much ring and higher frequency harmonics and overtones, and don't give me that down and dirty sound I'm looking for. Perhaps after using them while they will mellow out and give a more pleasing tone. But for now I would say these would be best for slap and pop, where you want a real strong response in the higher registers. For me right now they don't fit the bill for what I'm looking for.I play mostly in a blues band, and like a fat, thick tone with lots of bottom and some midrange punch. Corrosion, corrosion, corrosion...

            By Van Lee

            from Jackson, MS

Comments about Ernie Ball 2732 Cobalt Regular Slinky Electric Bass Strings:

I was talked into buying these strings about a month ago by a sales associate at the Guitar Center in Jackson, Ms. Said they were the best strings Earnie Ball had to offer. I can now say that I disagree. I love Earnie Ball strings, don't get me wrong, but these are by far the worst I have purchased. I had them on for two weeks and played on them five times. Put my bass in its case after every session. Within a week, I started noticing that they were gaining rust. Dispite the fact that I cleaned them. By the time the second week came, they looked like they had been left in the rain for months. I don't recommend these strings to anyone. The steel and nickel strings, yes, buy those. I love them. But these new cobalt strings are a waste of money. Thankfully my local Guitar Center took care of me and gave me a free pack of strings when I showed them the wear and tear they had gained over a course of two weeks. I'll say again, don't buy these strings. You will be disappointed.
