I would not recommend Not Even Slinky's for every guitar but, I use these strings in standard tuning and I could not be happier. These are really aggressive stings not for the weak of heart, or of finger. They sound amazing! and they really don't break very often. I play every day and only break one every five or six months, amazing. p.s I'm sure there good for down tunings to.

The gauges for these strings are great for those indicated in the description and also for low tension Drop B. The only problem I have with these strings is the .24 gauge plain string. It simply doesn't sound all that great; it should have been wound.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2626 Nickel Not Even Slinky Drop Tuning Electric Guitar Strings:

I purchased these strings specifficly for downtuning and they are great! They provide a much heavier sound than the strings I was using before and are a lot more durable. I recomend these for anyone looking for a thicker, heavier sound and/or anyone who downtunes their guitar.

Worth Every Penny

By hardcoredarrell

Comments about Ernie Ball 2626 Nickel Not Even Slinky Drop Tuning Electric Guitar Strings:

These strings are really worth the little money you spend in getting them, The sound is just amazing in Drop B, IF you want the slow bass type rift feel then these are deficiently the strings for you >;] you can get wipes to clean them but those cost just as much as getting another set of strings so I just do that when they loose their tension, I find if happens every 5 months with me anyway playing 6 to 8 hours a day >;]

Awsome sound but one Flaw

By dropadropaBstring

from Ohio

Comments about Ernie Ball 2626 Nickel Not Even Slinky Drop Tuning Electric Guitar Strings:

Well these strings sound really great and have a amazing feel, but I have gone through 2 sets of these, and I have discovered its better to get a 7string set of Not even Slinkys. The Size 24P on this set is wond really thick near the ball of the string making it hard for the string to fit properly so if you get the 7 string set your problem is fixed for that and its basically the same sound just easier to put in, and its about a dollar cheaper =]

Malcolm Young's Strings

By Malcolm Fan

from Bay City, Michigan

Comments about Ernie Ball 2626 Nickel Not Even Slinky Drop Tuning Electric Guitar Strings:

First off, let me say that these strings are completely amazing. I bought these a while back because I'm the rhythm guitarist in my band, and i was looking for that Malcolm tone, since we play AC/DC only. Right off the first strum I played, the strings made my Gretsch dound just like Malcolm's. I was awestruck. These strings are crisp and powerful, they are made for rhythm guitarists. You can get so much power, even in clean tones. These are the only stings I'm useing from here on out. They are an amazing addition to the Ernie Ball Collection.

Incredible range of tunings are possible with these!

By Lucas Meinstad

from Howard Lake, Minnesota

Comments about Ernie Ball 2626 Nickel Not Even Slinky Drop Tuning Electric Guitar Strings:

As the title says, you can put your guitar in many different tunings with these strings. I constantly change tuning, so I've had these strings anywhere from Drop B to standard, and literally everything in between. I have both my main guitars at the moment in Drop B, but I've had one in C standard. Drop C, D standard, Drop D, and even standard; all over the course of a month and not a single string snap! If you're constantly changing tunings, or want a great set for C standard or Drop B, look no further than these right here!

Comments about Ernie Ball 2626 Nickel Not Even Slinky Drop Tuning Electric Guitar Strings:

saw these last year and decided to try a set. i usally use ernie ball 10-52's and these are 12-56. i only have recently got a second guitar so i was constantly changing tunings, i tune from E flat to D to C to B. now i have one for E flat- D , the 10-52's work great and one for C - B and these work amazing. the extragirth of the lower strings provides fat tone and they last a long time. so all you down tuners or anybody who wants a fat tone you owe it to yourself to try out a set unless you play a lot shreding leads and a lot of bends .

    Freakin' Awesome!

    By MetalheadForLife

Comments about Ernie Ball 2626 Nickel Not Even Slinky Drop Tuning Electric Guitar Strings:

I bought a set of these strings back in December for my Warlock to replace the original strings, and I love the sound I get with these strings. In fact, I bought a second set so I'll have a spare set on hand if any of the strings should break. Now I can play songs I couldn't play before I got these Ernie Ball 12-guage strings. As Nathan Explosion would say, "These things are freakin' brutal!"

Ernie Ball all the way from now on!!

    By PRS-USER-FOR-LIFE

    from FT. Myers FL

Comments about Ernie Ball 2626 Nickel Not Even Slinky Drop Tuning Electric Guitar Strings:

These r by far the best strings I have ever used w/ my PRS Singlecut. They bring out the low end tone of the guitar, and no more ringing. I play alot of Nickelback and Theory of a Deadman and these r perfect for drop tunings they use. I can hit A# w/ these things and they don't go all flabby on you. They also last a very long time without breaking. So these r definetly the ones to use.

    By diemetrie

Comments about Ernie Ball 2626 Nickel Not Even Slinky Drop Tuning Electric Guitar Strings:

i had got these strings a few months ago and they are still going strong they hardly ever go out of tune on me and they are perfect for drop D tuning although theses strings are brutal on you fingers so if you haven't used thicker gauges of strings before go with a slightly thinner gauge than this then upgrade to these because ill recommend these are for anybody that need good strings

    The only ones I use.

    By Corey Richardson

    from Jacksonville, Fl

Comments about Ernie Ball 2626 Nickel Not Even Slinky Drop Tuning Electric Guitar Strings:

These are the only 12's I use and have tried many others yet none surpass the Ernie Balls. They have a very comfortable tight feel that has some muscle and just feels very substantial. They bend just fine if you're not a weakling and maintain that brand new string sound for months. As for going lower than drop C, I would recommend some 13's as long as you are never exceeding drop A on a 6 string guitar, which you shouldn't do in the first place. Hope this helps anyone considering the best strings available.

BEST STRING FOR DROP C (CGCFAD)

    By quincey cash

    from Marshall, MO

Comments about Ernie Ball 2626 Nickel Not Even Slinky Drop Tuning Electric Guitar Strings:

these strings have great output and amazing sustain, also I wouldn't recommend using these strings in E standard (EADGBE) because in drop C, they feel so tight, it seems like they are gonna pop. Overall AMAZING strings, I'm getting more of these

I use these on my gibsons. I play in B std tuning and they get the job done right. The combination between my gibsons, Ernie balls, and my Marshall jcm 900 stack. It's a great tone. I won't ever play another string set, the size are perfect for me.

I love my D'addario strings but i went to a music store to get a set they didn't have the ones i wanted. So i got these and gave them a try and man i am not disappointed. My guitar is in drop B and it plays beautifully. They sound great and they feel amazing. I would use these again.

          Great for low tunings

          By jotrimble

          from Milwaukee

Comments about Ernie Ball 2626 Nickel Not Even Slinky Drop Tuning Electric Guitar Strings:

These strings hold well for lower tunings. I tune to drop B and they hold tuning pretty well and don't feel like wet spaghetti under my fingers and pick. The plain 3rd string is quite stiff but sounds better than a wound one. Haven't played them on a regular scale guitar but I'm sure you could easily obtain the same low tunings, a great string for metal.
