Had an interesting tone, I rather liked it; but I've never had strings with such a short life span. Bought a pack for a backup set, and ended up pulling them out in an emergency. At somewhere between 7-10 days life, literally in the middle of a music set, the tone got bad, distractingly bad. Terrible :(

Great acoustic strings.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2004 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

These strings sound amazing. Im really impressed with the packaging, too. The strings are wrapped in expensive looking paper to make them really vintagey looking. Im sticking with these strings forever.

Love these strings

Comments about Ernie Ball 2004 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

As a relative beginner, I am not as versed as some on the merits of the different strings and gauges, etc. I know what sounds good and what plays well and these strings do the job. The price is great so I can order multiple sets. Will definitely buy more.

Can totally transform your guitar

By Ryan

from Allen TX

Comments about Ernie Ball 2004 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I purchased these strings about a year ago as replacements for my cheap Fender Acoustic Starcaster (hahaha). When I started playing them, I was astounded with the jump in sound quality. Somehow, the difference between the stock copper strings and these is enough to make my guitar sound as good or better than ones easily twice the price! And after a year of continual use and minimal maintenance, the only difference is a little tarnish; they sound just as sweet and are holding perfectly. Definitely worth more than you pay; these things can change your whole guitar!

Surprisingly Clean and Crisp Sound

Comments about Ernie Ball 2004 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Picked up a set of these for an old Hohner guitar I bought at a garage sale. Honestly, even on an older, not well maintained guitar, these strings sound clean and crisp. Plan on getting a set for my Fender acoustic. I also tried Open D tuning (DADAAD) and still sounds great. Break-in time was minimal. Anyone wanting inexpensive strings for an acoustic should pick up a set of these.

My Opinion

By Dan T,

from Menifee California

Comments about Ernie Ball 2004 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

The biggest thing i've learned when trying and talking to people about Guitar Strings, is a lot of it is personal preference. I bought these strings at Best Buy because I was walking by and just saw them, thought they looked interesting and got them. (couldn't even believe Best Buy had strings) Anyway now onto the string review. I came into these from the Martin Folklore strings, so I was caught off guard by the harshness and tension in the strings. However, as I played on them for a few days I warmed up to them and got used to playing them and I now like them quite a bit, they are very clear with their notes, its very bright, and its very loud. If your in the market for these type of strings I believe you will really enjoy them. I did not dock these strings on stars just because they are not the strings for me, the quality is very nice for what it does.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2004 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Getting older, harder to bend the typical EJ17 G string, went to these for my Martin HD 28 ready to accept some tone loss. The Martin loves them. Much crispier and cleaner, less bottom boominess, very well balanced. I can get top volume without getting muddy. I absolutely love them. And i can play and bend the intro to Tuesday's Gone again without sliding up the G string.

Great strings, but I like the phosphorous bronze more. You can bend these, but I'm still gonna try the extra light phosphorous bronze. I believe these strings will last a couple of months. Would recommend to a friend.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2004 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

These strings are not fit for 3/4 sized guitars like my Baby Taylor. They sound too bright even in lows where i needed more bass ( elixirs are great if you want balance tone in smaller guitars ). Perhaps they are good in regular sized guitars. The reason i gave 3 stars is because they wear out fast.

They sound so nice, and they stay new-sounding for a long time. They ring forever. The wound strings squeak when you slide on them, which I happen to like.

I bought a set of the Earthwood light gauge strings 5 years ago, and have stuck with them every re-string since. They last long (I usually change them every 6-8 months), and have a great clear sound. Highly recommend.
