Get this model!

By Leneave

from Atlanta, Georgia

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay HH 4-String Bass:

I wanted to leave a review cuz I read the one that the guy said there is no difference between this model with the dual humbuckers and the single humbucker. I don't believe he's spent much time playing this model cuz this has every tone imaginable. I've played them all from Gibsons to fenders to Ibanez to schecters to warwicks and this hands down beats them all! What does it is the tones it produces. It's absolutely amazing. Running the bridge pickup you get classic Stngray sound but switch it up a position splitting the outside coils and it sounds like a Fender Jazz. Move it to the middle position and run both humbuckers together and it will Rattle your windows like an Ibanez with Bartolini pickups. Move it one one position and it splits the middle coils and it sounds just like a Gibson thunderbird. Then the final position runs the neck humbucker and it has a sweet tone! If you have the money don't even hesitate on buying this. It's hands down the best Bass I've ever played.

Great tone. NOT the same as single PU

By GoofballJones62

from Chicago, IL

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay HH 4-String Bass:

I got this about 6 months ago and it's been great. Yes, you can get the single MM PU sound if you want, but with the coil taping options and the EQ, you can sculpt the tone anyway you want. Anyone that says the neck pick-up doesn't make a difference hasn't played this for any amount of time. You can get tones that sound JUST like a Stingray, and then tones that approach other basses and then totally unique, warm, thumpy tones that just rock. Honestly, I rarely use position 1 with the coil taps and usually have it either on 2 or 5. It's the perfect bass for me.

WOW...

By bmckay

from New York, NY

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay HH 4-String Bass:

Excellent construction from heavy-duty parts, a neck that's one of the fastest and smoothest out there, and a meaty, grunty bottom end combined with unmistakeable MusicMan funky highs. The variety of sounds with the new dual pickups and five-position selector switch make this my fave bass, period. They should have done this years ago.

buy the single humbucker

By charlesruiz2000

from rancho cucamonga, california

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay HH 4-String Bass:

I played one of these at a local guitarcenter and I was disappointed. I Thought it would be a beefed up version of the single humbucker Stingray. I was wrong. The neck was fat unlike the single humbucker version, and it just didnt feel right. The pickups make pretty much no difference. you could just add an emg tw and get the same results. for the first time musicman has disappointed me.

Incredible!!!!

By Nate777

from Toledo OH

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay HH 4-String Bass:

This bass is incredible. It not only looks totally sweet but can pump out any tone imaginable. There is a HUGE difference between this and the single humbucker, so don't listen to anybody who says there isn't. It is an absolutely incredible bass.

The legendary Stingray is now EPIC!

By PropagandiDan

from Hollywood, CA

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay HH 4-String Bass:

The Music Man Stingray double humbucker is hands down one of the most versatile basses on the market. Not only do you get the beautiful, distinctive "Stingray tone" that the single humbuckers spit out, but you also have that same amazing quality in other pickup variations. The neck on the rosewood model feels very natural. It didn't take any time to get acclimated to the way it plays. The newly patented Compensated Nut delivers the confidence that each fret will play in it intended register. The pickup selector is transparent when switching positions which is a must when playing on stage. I am extremely impressed with the Fixed EQ knobs since it allows me to compensate for any faults in the amps that I plug up to. Not only does this bass shine on stage, but it is the preferred instrument when in the studio by myself and all my clients. This is one of the only basses that sound stellar when running DI to the board. Slight compression from even the lowest quality compressor makes this axe sound phenomenal.

Lee, Myung....this bass can do all

By Cygnus X-191

from St. Louis, MO

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay HH 4-String Bass:

No matter what your style, no matter how fast or technical your playing, this bass can cover you. The tonal variety is simply astounding. Even a low-end amp will sound good with this baby plugged in. 3 Way EQ plus Double Musicman humbuckers = monster of maddness. From Geddy Lee to John Myung, this bass can match their master tones, and even has many of its own. After all, it is a Musicman, and as a bass, is the best on the market.

You'll Fall in Love

By Big D

from Seattle, WA

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay HH 4-String Bass:

When I decided to upgrade to some more serious gear, I did a tour of Leo Fender's greatest hits. Fender P-bass, J-bass, G&L L-2000, and the Stingray. All were great, and deserve their reputation, but this is the bass I fell in love with. I've always thought the Stingray had a beautiful form as well. The function is even better. The neck is slick and fast, the string spacing is generous, and it stays in tune. I play finger-style mostly, but pick also, and slap/pop/tap, and it all plays and sounds tremendous. The double-humbucker allows for powerful versatility. I've been playing with the switch in the middle, utilzing both humbuckers, but the old school bridge humbucker-only is very strong, as are the other settings. Just pick one up and play it, see if you can put it down.

THE BEST BASS EVER

By mickeyd

from Northeast, PA

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay HH 4-String Bass:

THE BEST BASS EVER is the only way I can describe my $$ stingray. The variety of tone that is available is awesome. I use position 1 on the pickup toggle for Funk. Positions 2,3, & 4 give a variety of rock tones. From trebley on 2 to the warm and rich tones on 3 & 4. Position 5 is hardcore when run through a distortion or fuzz. The bass that the active pickups put out will rattle your neighbors windows and teeth. If you have the means to buy one of these, you won't be disappointed. I love it!

second time is a charm

By Waffles

from Baltimore, MD

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay HH 4-String Bass:

I bought this same bass, but in a different color scheme off the showroom floor at GC only to have the neck replaced by EB/MM two weeks later. Two more weeks go by and the pre-amp was shot. I found out that the bass I bought had been on the floor for almost three years. Finally, GC replaced my bass with a brand new one and I am very happy with it. The HH feature is excellent for really nailing down the small tonal differences. The quality is impeccable and EB/MM really took care of me the whole way. The neck is very smooth, not too thick, not too thin. The bass is heavier than say, an Ibanez, but completely balanced. The tuners are great- they hold tight, so I can go get another cold one while everyone else is tuning. The frets are perfectly sized, and the overall quality and craftsmanship is unparalleled.

Has become my favorite bass to play!

By Michael Dobrzyn

from NE PA

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay HH 4-String Bass:

The sound and feel of this bass is unsurpassed. I own a number of basses from Fender, G&L, Rickenbacker, Hofner, and others. This bass has won me over and become my regular player. The action is fast and the tome is clean. The combination of the double humbuckers, the pickup selector switch and the vast tone control give a flexibility to play all types of music. This bass takes some time to learn all of it's tonal possibilities but the learning curve is worth the effort. The most versatile bass I own.

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay HH 4-String Bass:

I have been playing bass for 25 years and in my local band for over 16 now (getting ready to record our 7th album/cd/mp3....etc...:) whatever the kids are calling it these days) I can't wait to get this in the studio, my drummer has been able to get some amazing tones with his program already I can only imagine the monstrous sounds to come! Playability wise.......smooth. Such great feel and a real treat to play on. I have played on many basses over the years, Fender, Dean, Samick, Warwick, Shecter, Ibanez and I'm sure more than I care to list but this one makes it all easy....Never thought an instrument could make somebody play better but some of the hardest licks for me prior are easy as pie with this beast. Not to mention the monstrous tone I get no matter what rig I play on. Spend the money, get this honey and you won't regret it!

    Amazing Bass

    By Tom Coviello

    from Hockessin, DE.

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay HH 4-String Bass:

I bought the Music Man HH 4 bass last week. It is the most amazing bass I ever played. The Honeyburst finish is so beautiful I wanted to cry. The neck is comfortable and fast. The action is perfect. The tonal capabilities are unbelievable. A full bass sound that roars to highs that are perfect for slapping and popping. 3 band EQ for a multitude of sounds. The pick up selector switch adds so much tonal capabilities. Everything is well balanced from sound to feel. The HH 4 is definitely the way to go. Well worth the price. I wish I had bought this bass years ago.

    Great Bass

    By Taylor

    from San Diego, CA

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay HH 4-String Bass:

I have had the Pace Car Blue one for over a year now. Within the first 3 months, I had to get the neck adjusted twice. The first time was at guitar center, the 2nd time I took it to a Luthier that has his Master Cert. I also had him do a professional set up. Since then, I have had no trouble with the bass and it sounds amazing! 4 Stars because I may gotten that one bad one that "slipped through the cracks". But it was an easy $70 fix.
