I purchased the Music Man Luke a few weeks ago. One thing that struck me immediately whilst playing in the store was the incredible tone flexability. I was originally looking at a Gibson Studio model (which was about ? the price of the MM), my buddy suggested trying this as a comparison. After 5mins of playing, the MM Luke stood out as a much more versatile performer. I?m playing through a Vox AD50VT, all purchased through Guitar Center and they gave me a great deal. The combo with the Vox gives an excellent sound capabilities, from a clean warm Fender sound to the Gibson ?crunch?. The EMG pickups are some of the best around. I play a wide variety of music and if you?re looking for a guitar that has the build quality of guitars 2-3 times the expense with great tone flexibility, you should check this guitar out.

I was initailly thrilled with it when I first got it, but I've had issues after two years. First, the fret wire is very soft and I've seen signicant premature wear (I'm not heavy handed and I've stayed with the stock 009 EB's). I've also been wrestling with the bridge plate setting. the low e saddle is pressed against the back of the bridge as far as it will go to get the harmonics set.A tremsetter is also in order. I had to clip the springs some to get the trem to come back to neutral (most of the time). Lube is also recommended. I also had problems with string breakage as the angle across the saddles are (in my opinion) too sharp and puts undue stress on the strings. The design of the strings passing thru the body is a poor design and presents problems when re-stringing. On the plus side, the neck is great and the tuners are super. The single coil EMG's are smooth but not great, the EMG dbl coil is much better but the spit coil settings are weak. There's no pick guard and although the black finish is deep I've had a problem with a stain setting in the finish on the upper body from the under side of my arm that won't buff out. It's a great guitar to play but not without it's problems.

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man Luke Signature Model Electric Guitar:

I took a gamble and purchased this item as an open box "blemished" item. Well, the gamble paid off. Can't say enough good things about the craftsmanship and overall quality of this instrument. Everything from the Tremelo system, to the locking tuners, the weight of the body, to the feel of the rosewood fretboard is perfect. My only complaint is the sterile sounding EMG pickups, but I went into this purchase knowing that I was going to replace them with passive pickups so it's not that big of a deal. With the money I saved from it being an "open box" item I still won't be anywhere near PRS territory, and now the pickups will be hand picked by me and suited 100% for my needs as a player. Don't waste your time on guitars made in South Korea or Indonesia; buy American and feel and see the difference.

Ive owned a 7 string Petrucci, a steve morse signature, a telecaste, and an SG and this guitar is better than all of the others combined. This guitar has amazing tone and plays so smooth yet fast. The best quality Ive ever seen in an instrument as well.

    My Main Guitar--Awesome

    By The Luke Rules

    from SoCal

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man Luke Signature Model Electric Guitar:

I have two of them now and everything about them is awesome. The neck fits like a glove, the EMGs are versatile and soulful, and the trem system stays in tune and is easy to manipulate. I bought a Suhr Modern Carve Top thinking there always is something better, but I am underwhelmed by it and find it stays in the case and my Luke(s) stay out.

    Love Playing it BUT...

    By rick-88QKE

    from Glendale, AZ

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man Luke Signature Model Electric Guitar:

Being a big Lukather fan, I bought the first Luke I saw at GC. Love the sound, love the feel & the features, but after playing this for just three years now, there's some serious fret wear (I always use EB's strings 9- just like the factory setup)and I've also had problems with the strings starting to cut into the bridge plate. I, too, had difficulties with setting the intonation as well. For the price, I expected EB to use better materials. Hopefully, when I decide on a luthier, some of these issues can be resolved.

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man Luke Signature Model Electric Guitar:

First off, I'd like to say WOW. This guitar has shocked me since the day I picked it up. The neck is incredibly smooth and and pick up configuration is amazing. I love the active EMG's and they sound amazing, on clean and distortion. Overall this guitar is well worth the money.

    Great Gee-tar!

    By Jim The Luke Owner

    from Tampa, FL

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man Luke Signature Model Electric Guitar:

My wife bought me this as a "suprise" gift a few weeks ago & I can't stop playing it! I own a few other higher end electrics...Gibson LP, limited edition Gibson Firebird, Ibanez Paul Gilbert & this Luke blows them all away. Great Straty-clean tones w/ the neck & middle pick up. Screamin' humbucker perfect for metal, prog-rock, etc. Neck is round but small. Lightweight too so it's comfortable. Great craftsmanship too!!!

    Wow, eh?

    By NewLukeOwner

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man Luke Signature Model Electric Guitar:

My fiancee bought this guitar on a whim for me the other day. I have some nice instruments in my collection, and have owned/played just about every brand from Ibanez, Gibson, Fender, Fernandes, Guild, PRS, etc. This guitar rocks! The humbucker sounds great distorted or clean through my Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier. The single coil pickups are a little weak when clean but still have a good tone. The neck is awesome, rounded like a Gibson Les Paul but w/ a narrow fretboard. My hands are of avg size and I have no difficulty playing complex chords or running scales. Check it out, you'll be impressed!
